ORIGINAL STORY:
Gfk Chart-Track has released the data for video game software sales in the UK for the week ending January 12, and the enhanced Nintendo Switch port New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has debuted on top of the charts in what GamesIndustry reports has been relatively quiet week. FIFA 19, which was on top of the charts last week, has dropped down to second place as a result, while Red Dead Redemption is pushed down to number 3. Both games saw a drop in sales, as is often the case in January, which is traditionally a quieter month for video game sales- FIFA 19 sales dropped by 52 per cent week on week, and Red Dead Redemption 2 sales dropped by 53 per cent.
Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t the only Rockstar game in the top 10. The perennially successful Grand Theft Auto 5 has also re-entered the charts, placed at the eighth position. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is in at number 4, while Switch exclusives Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe follow behind in the fifth and sixth positions respectively.
Battlefield 5 has dropped down two places to seventh, while Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy comes in at number 9. Forza Horizon 4 rounds off the top 10. You can check out the full top 10 below- as reported last week, Gkf Chart-Track will begin compiling physical and digital sales data soon, but that is not the case for now, and these sales reflect only physical software sales.
