Capcom has updated its list of million-selling titles, i.e. Platinum titles, providing the latest sales figures as of June 30th, 2024. Resident Evil 2 remake has reached 14.2 million units sold, selling an additional 300,000 since its last milestone. After launching in January 2019 to extensive critical acclaim, it’s currently the publisher’s third-best-selling title.
Despite mixed reactions at launch, the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 is also in a good sales position, reaching nine million units sold. That’s also up by 300,000 units compared to its previous milestone. The franchise reached 160 million sales as of March 31st, 2024, so it’s pretty much a given to have surpassed that by now.
Capcom is working on the next mainline Resident Evil title, helmed by Resident Evil 7: biohazard director Koshi Nakanishi. It’s allegedly targeting launch in late 2025, though early 2026 is also possible. There are also rumors of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remakes, but they’ve yet to be officially announced.
