To no one’s surprise, Resident Evil remains a money-making machine for Capcom. The Japanese publisher has once again updated its Platinum Titles page, as it does every quarter, provided updated sales figures on every single one of its games that has sold over a million units to date. As has become customary, multiple Resident Evil titles have seen their numbers increasing, courtesy of strong, prolonged sales for previously released titles.

For instance, as of March 31, Resident Evil Village has sold 9.8 million units, up from the end of the previous year by 500,000 units. Besides Resident Evil 4’s 2023 remake – which, as previously confirmed, sits at 7.02 million units – Village is the survival horror series’ best performer for the January-March quarter in terms of sales.

Other titles in the franchise did continue to post solid numbers as well, however. 2019’s remake of Resident Evil 2 sold an additional 300,000 units over the course of the three-month period, taking its total up to 13.9 million units sold. Meanwhile, 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake now stands at 8.7 million units sold, which is up by 300,000 units.

Finally, there’s also Resident Evil 7, which also sold an additional 300,000 units and now stands at 13.3 million units sold worldwide. The franchise collectively sits at 157 million units sold worldwide across all of its instalments and spinoffs.

Leaks have claimed that Capcom has multiple other Resident Evil games in development, including the franchise’s next mainline entry, which will allegedly be announced soon ahead of a January release.
