Resident Evil 4 Remake Receives “Leon and the Mysterious Village” Animated Short Series

The first episode sees Leon running around, searching for Ashley, and dying to hostile villagers. The remake launches on March 24th.

Capcom’s long-awaited remake of Resident Evil 4 is out this week for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PS4 and PC. To further hype the launch, the publisher has released the first episode of a new animated short series, “Leon and the Mysterious Village.” It’s visually similar to anime like Heidi, except with Ganados and Las Plagas.

In search of Ashley, Leon asks multiple villagers about her whereabouts. On top of not understanding what they’re saying, he’s summarily executed. “Story of my life,” he says, running over the rainbow with some dogs. Don’t take my word for it – check out the animation below.

Resident Evil 4 remake launches on March 24th – check out our review of the PS5 version here, which received perfect 10. A demo is available to try with no time limits, and it even has a secret extreme difficulty mode to unlock.

As for the future, The Mercenaries and PlayStation VR2 content are coming as free post-launch updates. Capcom is rumored to be working on Separate Ways as paid DLC that’s more extensive than the original. It’s reportedly releasing this year, so stay tuned for potential announcements in the coming months.
