Resident Evil’s 2021 Entry Will Be Cross-gen And Big Series “Departure” – Rumor

Apparently, some big things are in store for the franchise, if this is all to be believed.

The Resident Evil franchise is about as active as it’s ever been. Not only is the high profile Resident Evil 3 remake on the verge of release (which you can read our review of through here), but apparently there’s lot planned for the series in the next few years as well. Earlier today we got a report that studio M-Two is working on another big remake for the series that’s due out in 2022, but in between then and now, we’ve got more tasty rumors.

Known leaker and insider AestheticGamer, who posts on forums as Dusk Golem, dropped some alleged information about the Resident Evil title that is coming next year via his Twitter. He says that it’ll be a cross-gen game, which makes sense, considering the time frame, and that it’s the “biggest departure” yet for the series. This matches up with some earlier claims of his that 2021 would be crazy year for Resident Evil.

Could he be referring to Resident Evil 8? Leaks from a different source have allegedly detailed that title, and it definitely seems like it could be departure for the series in several ways, even though it seems to follow Resident Evil 7 in direct ways as well. Then again, Dusk Golem himself also said not too long ago that Resident Evil 8 is few years away yet.

Of course, a lot of this is vague teasing, with things said that could be taken in a lot of different ways. While Dusk Golem has had accurate information about the series in the past, it’s worth noting he’s also dropped inaccurate information too. As always with any leaks and rumors, take it with a grain of salt for now.
