Rocket League was one of the biggest revelations of the previous console generations, and the massive enduring success enjoyed by the bombastic multiplayer title eventually led to developer Psyonix being acquired by Epic Games, who eventually made the title free-to-play to drive even further growth for it. Of course, both Epic and Psyonix have plans in place to keep that momentum is going, and unsurprisingly, part of those plans is bringing the game over to next-gen (or current-gen now) platforms.
The same was revealed in internal Epic legal documents recently made public during the ongoing Epic v Apple case. Though Rocket League did receive enhancements for both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility (though not very impressive ones on the former), the documents reveal that there are plans in place to release native versions of the game on the consoles as well.
Meanwhile, the document also mentions a mobile 2D side-scrolling Rocket League title, which, of course, we now know is Rocket League Sideswipe, in the pipeline or iOS and Android.
