E3 2021 starts this week but rumors surrounding the event continue to circulate. One of the latest surrounds Bandai Namco’s Scarlet Nexus which could be launching day one on Xbox Game Pass. This wouldn’t be the craziest thing – the title was announced at last year’s Xbox 20/20 event, leading many to assume some kind of Game Pass deal.
According to GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb on the XboxEra Podcast, “I think that’s a Game Pass day one game, is what I heard.” Grubb noted that deals for big games are usually made relatively late (like Outriders, which was announced as Game Pass title roughly two weeks before launch). In the case of Scarlet Nexus, it may have its own niche audience that Microsoft wants to capitalize on.
Overall, the deal would be good for Bandai Namco while ensuring that sales aren’t affected. As for why an announcement hasn’t been made yet, we could likely hear about this during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase on June 13th. Take this with a grain of salt in the meantime and stay tuned for more details. Scarlet Nexus is out on June 25th for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
