Square Enix’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider had received some fairly hefty discounts during sales after it launched. As if to further incentivize those who haven’t picked up the game, a free trial is now live on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It contains the first tomb in Cozumel, Mexico and sees Lara Croft and Jonah attempting to retrieve its treasure before Trinity.
Once the trial is finished, you can carry over your progress into the full game upon purchasing it. The game itself is developed by Eidos Montreal of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided fame in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics. Its received some fairly mixed reviews (though we had very positive reaction to it), but at least with the free trial, potential customers can see what they’re getting into.
If you like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you can invest in the Season Pass. This is delivers additional Challenge Tombs, weapons, outfits, and co-op gameplay. The first post-launch Challenge Tomb, The Forge, is now live, and provides some nice narrative and gameplay to go with the new obstacles.
