Sifu isn’t quite a AAA blockbuster title, but make no mistake- it’s still one of the best games of 2022, as those who’ve played it will gladly tell you. Thankfully, even more people will have the chance to dive into its offerings soon enough. Having launched for PlayStation and PC earlier in the year, followed by a Nintendo Switch launch last month, developer Sloclap has now confirmed that Sifu will soon be completing the set and coming to Xbox as well.
In a recently uploaded trailer (courtesy of IGN), Sloclap has announced that Sifu will be launching for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Steam on PC in March 2023- though the exact date within the month hasn’t yet been confirmed.
The new platform launches will coincide with a new free update going live for the game, which will add the new Arenas mode. Sloclap describes the mode as follows: “Successfully completing the arenas will progressively unlock a massive new modifiers batch, which doubles the current game’s amount and notably brings alternative moves to the Kung Fu palette of our main character. Completing the new Arenas challenges will also unlock new cheats and exclusive new outfits.”
Sifu has received three major free updates since its launch in February that have added plenty of new features to the game, including gameplay modifiers and scoring system, difficulty options and an advanced training mode, and replay editor.
In our review of Sifu upon its launch earlier this year, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Despite a couple of hang-ups, Sifu should be commended for injecting a sense of danger and realism back into the beat ‘em up genre.” Read the full review through here.
Sifu is currently available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via the Epic Games Store).
