Starfield is Headed to PS5 – Rumour

It's been claimed that the sci-fi RPG will launch for the PlayStation 5 after its expansion, Shattered Space, releases for Xbox and PC.

Rumours that Microsoft is looking to adopt multiplatform release strategy for its first-party games are continuing to gather momentum. The likes of Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves are headed to PS5 and Nintendo Switch, if reports are to be believed, but it’s now looking like Microsoft’s multiplatform release strategy will encompass even its biggest first-party titles.

XboxEra has claimed in report that Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield, which launched for Xbox Series X/S and PC last September, is also headed to the PS5. Allegedly, the game will release for PS5 some time after the launch of its first expansion, Shattered Space, which is due out for Xbox Series X/S and PC later this year. This has been corroborated by prominent insider NateTheHate, who said on Twitter, “This report is accurate – Starfield will land on PlayStation. As the report states, the PS5 release will come after the arrival of the expansion DLC on Xbox/PC.”

The report claims that though there are some within Xbox leadership who are not happy about the company’s changed strategy, the argument that there’s too much money to be made by bringing first-party games to rival platforms evidently has enough internal support.

In fact, it’s been claimed that even the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is being considered for (delayed) PS5 launch.

In our review of Starfield, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “As unfathomably vast and boundless as the subject matter it covers, Starfield raises the bar for its genre and for the medium as a whole in countless ways – much like the best of its Bethesda-developed forebears did in their time.” Read the full review through here.
