Microsoft looks set to adopt a multiplatform release strategy that will see the company bringing its first party games to rival platforms, if rumours are to be believed, and seemingly, that will include even its biggest upcoming titles.

As per a report published by The Verge, Bethesda and Microsoft are considering a PS5 launch for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The MachineGames-developed first-person action-adventure title is set to launch for Xbox Series X/S and PC this year, with the report claiming that a December launch is the current internal target, though allegedly, its Xbox exclusivity period will be “rather short”, with a PS5 release being considered for a few months after its initial launch.

Last year, it was revealed that after Microsoft acquired ZeniMax, it renegotiated its deal with Disney to change the Indiana Jones game from a multiplatform release to an Xbox exclusive. It later emerged that as per internal estimates, Microsoft was set to sacrifice a projected 10 million units sold for the game on PS5, which they hoped to be able to recoup through Game Pass. In December, Disney said the game’s Xbox exclusivity made “financial and strategic sense.”

As per reports, Indiana Jones isn’t the only first-party game that will release on platforms beyond Xbox. Allegedly, Starfield is headed to PS5, while it’s looking like PS5 and Switch versions of Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush are also in the works.
