Starfield certainly divided opinion when it launched last year, but though the space-faring RPG hasn’t enjoyed the sort of widespread critical acclaim that Bethesda Game Studios RPGs have been known for in the past, it has still attracted quite a sizeable audience- one that continues to grow at a steady pace, in fact.
Speaking in a recent interview with YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Starfield director Todd Howard revealed that the game had surpassed 14 million players to date. That’s up from 13 million players as of the end of last year. Over the last couple of months, the RPG has received some major updates that have added several features and improvements. Meanwhile, more content is on the way as well, include paid expansion later this year in the form of Shattered Space.
Speaking during the aforementioned interview, Howard also revealed that across its player base of 14 million people, Starfield has seen an average play time of over 40 hours per player, which is quite an impressive level of engagement for the game to have enjoyed, especially across such a sizeable player base.
Starfield is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
