In addition to gameplay for Street Fighter 6, showcasing its various modes, Capcom has also revealed brand-new features like real-time commentary for matches. In new PlayStation Blog post, it also confirmed that the fighting game is running on RE Engine, as rumored months ago. The same engine powers Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise.
This results in realistic details like beads of sweat, muscles tensing and sakura petals moving in line with the characters. Along with Luke, Ryu and Chun-Li, there’s a new fighter named Jamie. A peacekeeper from Chinatown inspired by Yun and Yang, Jamie is all about justice and uses martial arts to defend his town. Drunken boxing is a core part of his style with subsequent swigs raising his Drink Level and unlocking more moves.
Player avatars are also a big part of two modes – World Tour and Battle Hub. The former sees one exploring the world and entering fights to create their own legacy. The latter seems to be an online lobby system but promises “new and unique forms of engagements and communication.” While other players can watch your matches on the big screen, closer inspection also reveals an Event Counter. Both modes will receive deeper dives in the future.
And yes, Arcade Mode is confirmed. It’s included in Fighting Ground along with online matches, Training Mode, and local Versus battles. Street Fighter 6 is out in 2023 for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
