After many years of working exclusively with Sony on their systems, developer Quantic Dream has gone out on their own and will begin self-publishing at some point in the future. With help from publisher Annapurna Interactive, they also brought a large part of their catalog of interactive adventure titles to PC on the Epic Games Store. Now, though, they are about to open up to more players.

As announced via Quantic Dreams’ official Twitter, three of their most recent titles (Detroit: Become Human, Beyond: Two Souls, and Heavy Rain) will come to Steam next month. The games had originally been only available through the Epic Games Store on PC starting in December 2019 with Detroit: Become Home‘s release.

Detroit: Become Home, Beyond: Two Souls, and Heavy Rain will all release June 18th on Steam. You can try out demos for all three, which you can see a link to in the tweet below. The games are also available to purchase now on PlayStation 4 and PC via Epic Games Store.

He called the support "tremendous."

After over a decade of being an exclusive PlayStation studio, Quantic Dream has stepped out into the broader world. The company not only is planning to go multiplatfrom from here on out, but also wants to become a third party publisher of their own. The first step, however, was three of their most noteworthy titles (Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human) coming to PC. David Cage says it’s been a good experience.

In an interview with OnlySP, the Head of Quantic Dream seemed pretty ecstatic about the support they’ve received from the PC community. It’s not clear what he means exactly, whether he’s referring to sales or just general reaction, but either way, he seems to be happy with whatever that reception is.

“It is an entirely new market for us, although we started as a cross-platform developer (our first game Omikron: The Nomad Soul was released on PC and Dreamcast, and Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy was also cross-platform).

The reaction from the PC community has been tremendous. It is like expanding our family. We will, of course, remain a part of the PlayStation family, but we will now also make our games available to everyone, no matter their platform.”

We know the company is working on something else for later, so it’ll be interesting to see what they have in store for their first multiplatform title in many years. Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls is available now for PC, with Detroit scheduled to come out sometime later this year. All are exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC for now.

After releasing for the PS3 in 2013 and coming to the PS4 in 2015, Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls is finally available for PC. It’s exclusive to the Epic Games Store and offers the same narrative-driven experience that the studio is famous for. A free demo is also available for those who want to try before they buy

Starring celebrities like Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe, Beyond: Two Souls tells the tale of Jodie Holmes. The decisions she makes will ultimately bring her closer to solving the mystery of this entity.

The PC version includes support for 4K resolution, 21:9 widescreen, 60 FPS frame rate, and improved visuals. Players also get the Advanced Experiments DLC for free. Beyond: Two Souls is the second Quantic Dream title to come to PC after Heavy Rain. The next is Detroit: Become Human, though a release date has yet to be announced.

Switch exclusives, DLC and major expansions are all due next month.

September usually marks the flood of big releases, year in and year out. However, the party is starting early in July with a number of high profile exclusives, an eagerly awaited expansion and Stranger Things. Without further ado, let’s check out the ten most noteworthy games of July 2019.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Intelligent Systems is teaming up with Koei Tecmo for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, releasing on July 26th for the Switch. While the series’ tactical combat is still present, the story takes an intriguing turn, casting the player as a teacher. You’ll be guiding the students of the Black Eagles, Blue Lions and Golden Deer, each house representing a nation formerly at war and having a key character associated with them. That’s just the pre-time skip though – what happens after five years when the nations are at war once again? You’ll need to play the game to find out.

Stranger Things 3: The Game

So Telltale Games’ Stranger Things went bust. The good news is that Bonus XP and Netflix are delivering Stranger Things 3: The Game, a companion title to the upcoming third season. And it’s an…overhead beat ’em up style game with local co-op? We can dig it. Players will take on different quests, solve puzzles, battle enemies and choose from 12 characters, each with their own abilities. Stranger Things 3: The Game is out on July 4th for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC.

Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers

Square Enix’s next massive expansion for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is nearly upon us. Shadowbringers provides players with a darker task than before – they must venture to the First Star dimension and become the Warrior of Darkness to stop the Light’s overwhelming influence. Along with an increased level cap, new zones, new jobs like the Dancer and Gunbreaker and new races, Shadowbringers will also have a series of new raids. This includes one based on NieR: Automata which director Yoko Taro is overseeing. Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers is out on July 2nd for PS4 and PC.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

Set in a new universe and retaining the signature Marvel Comics look, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is developed by Team Ninja and published by Nintendo for the Switch. It sees our heroes battling against Thanos and his Black Order for the Infinity Stones. The signature beat ’em up action is still intact along with a large cast of characters, from Captain America and Deadpool to Magneto and Wolverine. We’ll see how well it captures the spirit of Marvel when it releases on July 19th.

Sea of Solitude

Jo-Mei Games’ Sea of Solitude is a emotional adventure game set in a submerged city. Protagonist Kay has become a monster and is on a mission to regain her humanity. Along the way, she’ll encounter other bizarre creatures and learn to cope with her psychological issues. Though a relatively low-key release, Sea of Solitude has an intriguing aesthetic and premise. It’s out on July 5th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Taking place two decades after The New Colossus, Wolfenstein: Youngblood takes the series in some interesting new directions. B. J. Blazkowicz’s twin daughters travel to Nazi-occupied Paris to find their father and aid the resistance as well because why not? With co-op support, missions that can be attempted in any order and level design that takes cues from Arkane Studios’ Dishonored, Wolfenstein: Youngblood looks to be a worthy follow-up. It’s out on July 26th for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Dragon Quest Builders 2

The sequel to the hit action RPG sandbox title, Dragon Quest Builders 2 features an epic new story and massive world to explore. As an alternate version of Dragon Quest 2’s story, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is about fighting the Children of Hargon who want to wipe out all builders. To accomplish this, you’ll take on various tasks, constructing buildings and improving your building skills. New features include underwater exploration, flying, online and offline multiplayer with up to four players and much more. It’s out on July 12th for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in the West.

Just Cause 4: Los Demonios

Available early for Season Pass holders, Just Cause 4’s second expansion Los Demonios is out for everyone else on July 3rd. It sees a parasitic alien species attacking Solis, bringing new terrifying enemies for Rico to deal with. Fortunately, he’ll have some new weapons including alien tech to hold his own. In terms of missions and scale, the jury’s still out on whether Los Demonios is worth checking out when it arrives on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle

Yes, the craze for Attack on Titan isn’t what it used to be but that doesn’t mean Koei Tecmo is slowing down on content for its game series. Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle is an upgrade which sports new original episodes for Story Mode, new characters like Zeke and Kenny Ackerman, and scenarios from Season 3 of the anime. There are also two new modes, the first focused on squad battles against Titans for territories and the second more focused on aerial combat. Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle is out on July 5th in the West for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Beyond: Two Souls (PC)

Quantic Dreams’ hit cinematic adventure titles have finally come to PC…via the Epic Games Store. Regardless, PC players can finally experience Beyond: Two Souls in their preferred resolution and frame rate (we hope). The story stars Hollywood actor Ellen Page as Jodie, a woman with immense psychic powers thanks to her connection with an entity named Aiden. Along the way, she’ll battle against the CIA including her surrogate father-figure portrayed by Willem Dafoe. Beyond: Two Souls is out on July 22nd for PC.

Quantic Dream's narrative-driven adventures are coming to PC.

Quantic Dream’s once Sony exclusive narrative-driven adventure titles were announced to be coming to the PC earlier in the year, getting caught up in the ongoing controversy about the Epic Games Stores, as they will all initially launch exclusively there. Today, the developer has released a trailer to announce both the release dates for the three titles, as well as demos for each.

As you can see below, the trailer highlights the three games coming: Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. Each game features a story-focused experience where you play through a narrative filled with choices that can have a big impact on the story, including major characters dying in some cases. The reception to those titles has been mostly positive, though often criticisms have been levied toward many of their third acts.

Heavy Rain will release June 24th with a demo on May 24th. Beyond: Two Souls will release July 22nd with a demo June 27th. Detroit wasn’t given a specific date, but was slated to release this fall, and confirmed to also be getting a demo. You can check out the PC requirements for each title here.

Quantic Dream's trio of adventure titles receive details on minimum and recommended specs.

Quantic Dream dropped a shocking bombshell when they recently announced that their Sony-published PlayStation exclusive titles, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human would all be releasing on PC soon, and as Epic Games Store exclusives no less. Now, the system requirements for all three of these games have been detailed.

The Epic Games Store pages for all three – Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human – mention the recommended and minimum system requirements. Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls mention the same requirements on both fronts. They require at least an i5-2400 processor at 3.4GHz and an nVidia GTX 660 graphics card, with a 4GB RAM and 2GB VRAM. However, they both recommend an I7-2700K processor, an nVidia GTX 1080 graphics card, 12GB RAM, and 8GB VRAM.

The recommended and minimum requirements for Detroit: Become Human are more or less the same as well, with the exception of OS requirements, with Detroit: Become Human recommending Windows 10, as opposed to Windows 7 for Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Detroit, incidentally, also uses the Vulkan graphics API.

An exact release date for all three of these games hasn’t yet been confirmed. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.

They will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for one year.

Cuphead isn’t the only game jumping ecosystems into a totally unexpected one, it seems like. Today during their GDC panel, Epic Games and Quantic Dream together announced that the latter’s three PlayStation exclusive games—Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and yes, Detroit: Become Human as well—will all be coming to PC. And they will be coming via the Epic Games Store.

To be fair, Epic has directly worked on getting these games ported to PC with Quantic Dream, so this exclusivity arrangement makes far more sense than some of their other ones. That said, the exclusivity is not permanent—they will be exclusive to Epic’s store for one year. After that, we may see them launch on other storefronts.

The big news here, of course, is that Sony published games are launching on PC at all—other than the availability of PS Now on PC, Sony has largely kept its games exclusive to PlayStation hardware. While it’s unlikely that Sony’s first party games such as Horizon: Zero Dawn will come to PC (remember, Quantic Dream had already announced it will go multiplatform, albeit for future games), at least their other “second party” games, such as Bloodborne, now have a chance. Even if they are locked to Epic’s store.

The Quantic Dream Collection bundles together three excellent interactive stories for a very reasonable price.

Quantic Dream, led by David Cage, have delivered some truly ambitious interactive stories for the PlayStation family of consoles over the years, and for those who haven’t taken the chance to try them out so far, Sony has presented an excellent opportunity to do just that.

The Quantic Dream Collection can be purchased on the PlayStation Store in North America, and it bundles together all three of the games the French studio has made under Sony exclusively for PlayStation- Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. Best of all, the collection is priced at the very, very reasonable price of just $39.99.

Heavy Rain is considered by many to be one of the greatest PlayStation 3 games, and though Beyond: Two Souls is not quite as good as that, it’s still a very solid game with some very high production values. Both games originally launched on the PS3, but were later remastered and brought over to the PS4.

Then there’s Detroit: Become Human, Quantic Dream’s latest, which only launched on the PS4 earlier this year, and was met with great critical acclaim for its setting, visuals, acting performances, and the wide range of its branching storyline. All three games are well worth experience, and put together for a price of just $40, they’re pretty much unmissable.

Beyond was another victory for David Cage, and his team at Quantic Dream.

David Cage’s newest game, Detroit: Become Human, may have become a success, but the seeds for it to do well were planted way ahead of time. We already know that Heavy Rain ended up selling nearly 5 million copies worldwide- now, thanks to the LinkedIn profile of Guillaume de Fondaumière, the founder and CEO of Quantic Dream, we also know that the far less warmly received Beyond: Two Souls ended up selling 2.8 million copies worldwide.

Since we know that Beyond had sold 2 million on the PS3 by the end of 2015, it seems that the PS4 version ended up adding another 800,000 copies to the tally (I have to assume any sales for the PS3 version past 2015 were negligible). This, apparently, will also not include the PS Plus totals, since the game was given away to PS Plus subscribers.

The persistent success of Quantic Dream games bodes well for Detroit: Become Human, if nothing else. The game is out now exclusively on PS4.

Sony continues putting out surprisingly strong games for its PS Plus lineup, with May’s lineup headlined by Rayman Legends, the gorgeous side scrolling platformer by Ubisoft, and the follow-up to the superlative Rayan Origins, and Beyond: Two Souls, David Cage’s final PS3 project.

Beyond: Two Souls launched on the PS3 in 2013, and while it wasn’t as well received as Heavy Rain, I guess it’s still a good way for people who might be interested in the upcoming Detroit: Become Human to see what Cage’s past work was like.

The lineup for PS3 and PS Vita is really like residual dregs- there’s nothing impressive here, and it’s clear Sony is just scraping the bottom of the barrel for those systems before preparing to retire them early next year from PS Plus.

You can check out the full lineup of PS Plus games for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita in May for yourself below.
