Strafford’s Facebook post, which has since been deleted, implies that he is a part of the cast for the 2024 Call of Duty game, which would be developed by Treyarch.

While Treyarch is working on next year’s title, the next Call of Duty game to be released will be the yet-to-be-officially-announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 developed by Sledgehammer Games. Activision seems to be gearing up to unveil the game, as reports from earlier in the month indicate that the title was being shown off to NBA stars behind closed doors.

Last year’s game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, recently got its first bit of mid-season DLC for the current season, bringing characters from The Boys to the game’s regular multiplayer game modes, as well as to Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

Each of the characters will be available as part of their own Operator Bundle. Starlight will be the first of the characters to come to the game on July 12, followed by Homelander on July 16 and Black Noir on July 20. Each of the Operator Bundles will be priced at 2,400 COD Points, and will include weapon charms, loading screens, emblems, and weapon stickers.

The mid-season update will also bring other features to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2, including the ability to play battle royale in Vondel, a new Gulag, and other features like Occupation Scan and the Signal Intelligence Contract returning.

In a new report on Exputer, Henderson’s sources said that this map is “well into development.” While one source said it was visible in the menu, it’s reportedly in “early development” and wasn’t playable in that session. The new map is reportedly similar in size to Warzone’s Rebirth Island.

As for a release window, it’s could likely launch in Modern Warfare 2’s second year (read: 2023). Henderson also revealed that Warzone 2 won’t launch with Modern Warfare 2, instead coming “a couple of months later” based on a source from a company-wide meeting earlier this year. Fans can allegedly expect the new battle royale mode somewhere between December 2022 to January 2023.

Official platforms for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 haven’t been revealed. However, datamining suggests it will arrive for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5.

Insider Tom Henderson said on Twitter that he believes that “Sony’s deal lasts for the next three games.” This includes Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Treyarch’s next game. “So if Microsoft obligates Sony’s existing deal, which they have said they will, nothing should change until Call of Duty 2025/2026 (depending on when that releases).”

Replying to another user about Call of Duty not being exclusive to Xbox platforms even after that, Henderson replied, “There’s an argument for both sides. I don’t even think Microsoft knows what to do yet.”

Microsoft had previously stated that it intends to honor Sony’s existing deal for Call of Duty. In addition, it has “committed to Sony that we will also make them available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love.” But this could potentially mean future Call of Duty titles launching on day one for Game Pass with other benefits like first beta access.

Then again, Microsoft could simply offer a new deal to Sony that’s even more lucrative than the current one. Time will tell, so stay tuned in the coming months and years.

While details on the shooter are currently scant, recent days have seen leaks shedding light on some interesting tidbits, from its similarities to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, to details on the game’s map, to new features like interrogations, and more. Now, in a report published on Try Hard Guides, prominent leaker Tom Henderson has shared a drawing that he says is a full (and rough) recreation of Warzone 2’s maps.

In the map below, blue is water, brown is land, dark brown is elevated land, and grey is “densely built-up areas”. You can also see all of the map’s POIs (points of interest), and according to one of Henderson’s past leaks, these represent recreations of beloved maps from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, including the likes of Quarry, Highrise (represented here as Modern City), Terminal (Airport), and Afghan (Caves).

Interestingly, you’ll also see plenty of water-dominated areas in the map, including rivers running through it. That’s because, according to Henderson, Warzone 2 also has a new swimming mechanic. The map will also apparently have a railway track running through it, which is represented in the image below as the black line running a circle close to the landmass’ outskirts. Additionally, the leaker also claims that the map is likely bigger than Warzone’s Verdansk and Caldera.

Interestingly, as has been claimed in prior leaks, the same map is also allegedly going to be used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s PvPvE mode DMZ, though Henderson claims the entire map will probably not be featured in every game, with a single game using only a section of the map.

These are, of course, unconfirmed reports, so take them with a grain of salt for now. Activision has said it will be formally unveiling Warzone 2 later this year, so we’ll hopefully know more soon enough.

One that catches the eye in particular is interrogations. According to Henderson, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will feature an interrogations mechanic similar to Rainbow Six Siege. Built as an extension of the existing executions mechanic, interrogations will allegedly see players approaching downed enemies and, in a process that, in its current state, takes about six seconds, make them reveal the locations of their teammates on your minimap as you deliver the killing blow.

Another feature mentioned by Henderson is armour vests, which was mentioned in another recent leak as well. Similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode Blackout, Warzone 2 will supposedly equip armour plates, which will require you to have an armour vest equipped first. As per the report, armour vests will come across three total tiers, with each tier allowing you to equip an additional plate. Vests will not sustain damage, but plates will, and similar to the current Warzone, players will need to replenish those upon taking hits.

An inventory system similar to Blackout is also allegedly featured, though in a more expanded form, with comparisons drawn to Escape from Tarkov. Equipped bags will present grid-style inventories in which players will be tasked with placing and fitting weapons and items, higher tiers of bags, killstreaks, and more. There’s a chance that the same bag system is used in Modern Warfare 2’s PvPvE mode DMZ as well, though Henderson isn’t entirely sure about that point in particular.

Of course, even with Henderson’s track record of accurate leaks (especially when it comes to Call of Duty), these details should be taken with a grain of salt for now, as is the case with any and all unverified information coming from unofficial channels. As mentioned, Activision has said Warzone 2 will be officially unveiled later in the year, so we should know sooner rather than later how much of this is accurate, and whether some of these details have changed mid-development.

A recent leak revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 (or whatever it will be officially called) will tie loadouts to a new Strongholds feature, and now, a report published by known insider Tom Henderson on Exputer has elaborated on that. Warzone 2’s map will allegedly have about 25-30 Strongholds scattered everywhere, though these will come in different tiers, with 20-25 being small Strongholds, and three big Strongholds being placed throughout the map.

According to the report, each Stronghold will have a loadout within, and will not only be guarded by AI soldiers, but will also task players with completing a variety of objectives tied to them. Upon completion of a Stronghold, players will get that specific loadout, and the harder the Stronghold is, the better the loadout will be. Interestingly, Strongholds are apparently being designed to make each match more dynamic, and once a Stronghold has been completed, it will become inaccessible to everyone else, forcing players to move on and seek better loadouts in other areas.

Beyond that, Henderson’s report also reveals potential new details on Warzone 2’s map. The battle royale follow-up is said to feature a new map that will smush together locations from across the Call of Duty series, and several of these from the original Modern Warfare 2 have been mentioned by Henderson.

Highrise will allegedly will allegedly be found in the top-right section of the map, under the POI (point of interest) name Modern City. Like the original map, it will feature plenty of tall buildings and skyscrapers, which will also be reminiscent of the original Verdansk map in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Modern Warfare 2’s Quarry, meanwhile, will apparently be located in the top-left section, under the POI name Quarry. Then there’s Terminal, located in the bottom-right under the POI name Airport, which will also house one of the three large Strongholds. Meanwhile, Afgan, under the POI name Caves, will be located near the middle of the map.

According to Henderson, POI names haven’t been finalized, so there’s a chance that some of these end up getting changed. Meanwhile, other POI names could also be referring to Modern Warfare 2 maps being recreated, such as Mountain Town in the middle of the map, which could be Favela.

Finally, Henderson also brings up DMZ, the rumoured PvPvE objective- and extraction-based game mode in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In line with previous leaks, Henderson states DMZ will use the same map that’s used in Warzone 2, though it will revolve around a completely different gameplay loop.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is expected to be revealed in June, while Activision has said that Warzone 2 will also be unveiled later this year, so we should have concrete details on both games soon enough. Until then, stay tuned for any and all updates.

Allegedly, the game will be more similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode Blackout than it will be to the original Warzone, with Henderson also stating on Twitter, “The new Warzone 2 map looks more like Blackout than it does Warzone in terms of its layout.”

The new map, interestingly, will feature many locations from across the series, according to the leak, with one of them being Highrise from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The video claims, however, that Warzone’s Verdansk will also eventually return.

Other mechanics in the game will also allegedly be similar to Blackout. For instance, players will need to have a satchel equipped for armour. There will apparently also be a new inventory system in place, which will limit the number of weapons and equipment that a player can carry.

Warzone 2 will allegedly also make major changes to how loadouts are handled. Loadouts will be placed inside of points of interest scattered throughout the map called Strongholds. To get to the loadouts, players will have to complete objectives specific to that Stronghold, such as defusing a bomb, killing an AI enemy, and more.

It’s also been claimed that the game will feature a firing range, where players will be able to check the weapon stats for things such as damage, range, recoil, and more. Other details mentioned in the video are the return of pro perks, and weapons once again having five attachment slots instead of eight.

Of course, official details on Warzone 2 remain scant. Infinity Ward has confirmed that it’s being built on a new engine (same as Modern Warfare 2), while previous reports have claimed that it won’t be cross-gen and will release only for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Activision has said that Warzone 2 will be unveiled sometime later this year, so we’ll hopefully know more about the game in the not-too-distant future.

To be honest, the new Warzone 2 map looks more like Blackout than it does Warzone in terms of its layout.

The publisher believes that it’s “primarily due to our own execution.” Along with the World War 2 setting apparently not resonating with “some of our community,” it also believes that “we didn’t deliver as much innovation in the premium game as we would have liked.” Both issues are “certainly” being addressed with this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, developed by Infinity Ward (which is also working on the follow-up to Warzone).

“We are working on the most ambitious plan in Call of Duty history, with over 3,000 people now working on the franchise and a return to the Modern Warfare setting that delivered our most successful Call of Duty title ever.”

In its recent quarterly financial report, Activision Blizzard revealed that Call of Duty: Vanguard had “lower premium sales” with net bookings for the franchise seeing a year-on-year decline. As for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward claims it will be the “most advanced experience” in the franchise’s history. A reveal is rumored to be coming this Summer while the sequel to Call of Duty: Warzone will receive an official reveal later this year.

But what exactly is the reveal coming? Well, Activision hasn’t provided any specifics, but it’s reassured that it is coming. In its recent quarterly fiscal report, the company reiterated that the Call of Duty: Warzone sequel is “built from the ground-up” and will feature “groundbreaking innovations”, details on which will be revealed “later this year”.

Of course, if the game is indeed on track for a launch later this year, then it goes without saying that a reveal be coming before then- though fans will still be pleased to know that things seem to be going to plan right now.

It’s been confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 (or whatever it ends up being called) is being developed on a new engine, same as the Modern Warfare (2019) follow-up, which will also be used for every new Call of Duty game going forward. Read more on that through here.

Previous leaks have suggested that the Warzone follow-up won’t be cross-gen and will instead release only for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Official details on that should be revealed in the coming weeks and months.
