Microsoft has announced the second wave of Game Pass titles, led by Remedy Entertainment’s FBC: Firebreak, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, all out today. The latter is even playable for Game Pass Standard subscribers, which is a great way to celebrate Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled selling over 10 million units.

Star Trucker and Wildfrost are next on June 18th for Standard subscribers, followed by Sloclap’s Rematch on June 19th for Ultimate and PC Game Pass. June 24th sees the launch of Volcano Princess, while June 26th marks the arrival of Against the Storm, the acclaimed rogue-lite city builder.

On the same day, Blizzard fans (or at least those left) can expect Warcraft 1: Remastered and Warcraft 2: Remastered on PC. There’s also Warcraft 3: Reforged, which has seen some improvements since its disastrous launch. On June 30th, Call of Duty: WW2 joins the ever-expanding list of Call of Duty titles on the service, playable for all three tiers of subscribers.

As an early sneak peek for next month, Little Nightmares 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider will become available on July 1st. Check out all the games leaving on June 30th below:

Sledgehammer Games is one of several studios across Microsoft's entire gaming division to be affected by widespread layoffs.

Life under Microsoft ownership has got off to a horrible start for Activision Blizzard studios. Microsoft announced last month that it would be laying off 1,900 people across its gaming division, as part of which the likes of Blizzard Entertainment and Toys for Bob (among others) have been impacted. Another name in that list is Sledgehammer Games.

As reported by SF Chronicle, a state notice in California has revealed that 76 people will be laid off at an Activision studio located in Foster City. The address provided for the studio matches the address of Sledgehammer Games office. Meanwhile, last month, it was also reported by Insider Gaming that Sledgehammer was shutting down its office and going fully remote on a temporary basis, as it looks to relocate to a smaller office space.

Sledgehammer Games has been focused exclusively on Call of Duty since its inception in 2009. On top of co-developing and providing development assistance for a number of titles in the series, the studio has also served as the lead developer on four instalments- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty: WW2, Call of Duty: Vanguard, and last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The shooter joins Call of Duty: WW2 as part of next month's offerings.

After announcing that Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: WW2 would be free with PlayStation Plus in June, Sony has confirmed the second free game. It’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 from EA and DICE which recently wrapped up support for its multiplayer. PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download both titles for free from June 6th.

Having launched November 2017, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is easily EA’s most controversial game till date. It received wide-spread criticism for its implementation of loot boxes and microtransactions, which prompted the company to backpedal heavily. The current cosmetic system was more positively received, eschewing random drops for direct purchases.

Since then, the title has received solid support, overcoming “initial missteps” to become a “really strong game” as per EA. The final update, which added The Battle of Scarif, recently launched for all platforms so there should still be a strong playerbase for PlayStation Plus users. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months on DICE’s next project (especially since Battlefield 6 is already earmarked to release in 2021).

Sledgehammer's World War 2 shooter is part of the June 2020 lineup of free games.

Before June has even arrived, Sony has announced the first free game for PlayStation Plus subscribers. It’s Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: WW2, which will be available to download starting tomorrow. Confusing dates? Slightly but that just means that PS Plus subscribers will have a head-start.

Released in 2017, Call of Duty: WW2 saw the series return to its World War 2 roots. It featured a decent single-player campaign though multiplayer took several updates to really get into gear. In terms of content, there’s plenty to like especially if you choose to indulge in the Nazi Zombies mode (though additional DLC needs to be purchased to enjoy it all).

Call of Duty: WW2 won’t be the only free game offered for PlayStation Plus subscribers in June 2020. Sony will reveal more details on other titles later this week. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime and make sure to claim Farming Simulator 19 and Cities: Skylines, which are free with PlayStation Plus in May.

Call of Duty: WW2 is also available as an early unlock for subscribers.

<img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-299890" src="https://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Crash-Bandicoot-N.-Sane-Trilogy.jpg" alt="Crash Bandicoot N.
The Humble Monthly for November is now available for purchase. Though you can subscribe for $12 per month, some titles can be unlocked early by subscribing before November 1st. This month’s line-up of early unlocks includes Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Call of Duty: WW2.

This isn’t the first time Activision has sold its titles through Humble Monthly – Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was available for the service in May. However, this is definitely a bundle with the best value. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy consists of remakes of the first three titles in the franchise. The same goes for Spyro Reignited Trilogy, so you’re essentially getting some of the best platformers from Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games with gorgeous contemporary graphics for a low price.

Even Call of Duty: WW2 is worth checking out especially in light of the decent campaign and multiplayer (though finding matches might be tough). The best part is that these are only the early unlocks – more games still to be revealed. Subscribers will receive these on November 1st and can also access the Trove of free games from Humble Bundle.

GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the best-selling game, to no one's surprise.

Sony’s first party has finally come into its own this generation, with games that not only get excellent critical reception, but also sell exceedingly well. Recently, NPD analyst Mat Piscatella shared charts for the best-selling exclusives and the best-selling games on the PS4 in the US to date, and they’re evidence of just how well Sony exclusives have been selling this generation.

Marvel’s Spider-Man is, unsurprisingly, the best selling PS4 exclusive in the US to date, and is followed by God of War and Horizon: Zero Dawn. At last count, Spider-Man’s worldwide sales stood at 13.2 million, God of War had crossed the 10 million mark, as had Horizon: Zero Dawn. What’s surprising is that each of these three has managed to outsell Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Also in the charts is Days Gone, coming in just below Bloodborne, having managed to sell very well in spite of lukewarm reception upon launch.

Piscatella also shared the charts for the best-selling PS4 games in the US (multiplatform titles and exclusives combined), and there are no surprises in here. Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the top two best-selling games, followed by Call of Duty WW2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. In fact, there are four Call of Duty games in the top 10, while Marvel’s Spider-Man is placed 6th, nesting between Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Following that is God of War.

Take a look at the full charts below, and do keep in mind that these are based on dollar sales (which means they’re based on revenue, rather than units sold), and they’re for the US only.

The co-founder of the Call of Duty: WW2 developer is set to step down from Activision in a few weeks.

Sledgehammer Games and Activision has been a pretty successful marriage. The company, founded of ex-EA Visceral alum, first worked with Infinity Ward on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, then proceeded to make the well received Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in 2014, before finally getting their biggest hit to date with last year’s Call of Duty: WW2.

But it seems like Sledgehammer co-founder Glen Schofield will be stepping down from his position at the end of the year nonetheless. Schofield announced his decision to do so on Twitter, noting that he has nothing but appreciation for Activision and the three Call of Duty games that he got to work on, but that he is eager for what lies ahead. As to that, he only teased that it would be “something exciting”, and left the rest to imagination. That said, he also noted that he would take a break first.

Schofield made games that sold millions and did well, so I hope he is satisfied with his tenure at Activision. We wish him luck at whatever he sets out to do next, and can’t wait to see where he will turn up.

I’ve had a great run here at Activision; 3 COD’s- MW3, AW and WWll- that I’m proud of. I feel it’s time to try something new tho. I’ll be leaving Activision end of Dec. and taking some time off to relax. Then off to something else exciting.
Thank u Activision for everything!

Though it set records for digital sales on its launch day, opening weekend physical sales for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 are down by nearly 50 percent, as per Games Industry. This is in comparison to Call of Duty: WW2, which released last year. On top of this, physical sales were down by 59 percent compared to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

That being said, in terms of physical launches, Treyarch’s sequel is still the second biggest launch of the year (with FIFA 19 emerging ahead). It topped the recent Gfk Chart-Track sales charts for the week ending October 13th. PlayStation 4 accounted for 58 percent of Black Ops 4 sales, while Xbox One made up 41 percent. PC accounted for the remaining percentage, but it still sold twice as many copies as Call of Duty: WW2 on the platform.

Physical sales in the UK have been taking a beating for quite some time now, especially as digital downloads rise in popularity. For instance, FIFA 19 physical sales are down by 25 percent compared to FIFA 18, but it still topped UK charts. It even fended off the likes of Forza Horizon 4 which was the fastest selling title for the franchise in the UK.

Travel across Spain and Antarctica to defeat the undead once and for all.

The newest DLC pack for Call of Duty: WW2 is out now. The United Front not only brings three new maps for multiplayer and a new War Mode operation but a new chapter to Nazi Zombies as well. “The Tortured Path” continues the journey of our heroes as they travel to Spain and Antarctica. Check it out below.

Along with the original cast, players can look forward to the hidden characters discovered near the base game’s launch. The story sees the Allies falling to the Final Reich. General Rideau tasks players with transporting Emperor Barbarossa’s sword in an effort to make it whole. Hopefully, that should be the final blow to the undead. Or not, since there is one more DLC pack set to release.

Regardless, if you’re looking for the same ferocious zombie horde shooting action that Call of Duty is known for, then The Tortured Path looks inviting enough. Call of Duty: WW2 The United Front is now available for PS4. It will be coming to Xbox One and PC next month.

United Front brings three new maps, a new War mode mission and a Nazi Zombies chapter.

The third DLC pack for Treyarch’s Call of Duty: WW2 has been announced and it’s called United Front. Releasing on June 26th for PS4 players first, it brings three new multiplayer maps, a new mission for War mode and a new chapter for Nazi Zombies.

The maps include Market Garden, which is inspired by the same military operation; Monte Cassino, a “war torn village” with plenty of verticality; and Stalingrad, the famous battleground which has two main bases on either side of the city. The War mode mission is Operation Supercharge, which sees players dropping into Tunisia and fighting up to a Nazi-occupied village. Once its supplies have been captured, a bridge must be destroyed and “Axis fortifications” captured.

The new Nazi Zombies chapter is Tortured Path and sees players transporting the “remaining pieces of Emperor Barbarossa’s legendary sword to the edge of the world.” Or so we think. More details can be uncovered on the PlayStation Blog.

Call of Duty: WW2 – United Front should release a month after for Xbox One and PC players. While its price hasn’t been confirmed, it is included with the $50 Season Pass. Previous DLC packs also retailed for $15 each so expect this to follow the same pattern.
