It now seems Black Forest Games of the Destroy All Humans! remakes is its latest victim. Kotaku reports that on January 24th, 50 people or “roughly” 50 percent of the studio’s workforce, were informed of their layoffs. A source told the website that the studio’s creative directors and most “if not all” the managers would remain employed. With 110 employees reported last year, these numbers would line up.

A subsidiary of THQ Nordic since 2017, Black Forest Games is working on The Last Ronin, an action RPG based on the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It’s unknown if the layoffs will affect the project, which is several years off from launch. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.

PS4 and PS5 players get access to Moving Out 2, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen (which requires the base game to play), Lost Judgment, Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, Source of Madness, Cursed to Golf,  PJ Masks: Heroes of the Night, Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures and Lawn Mowing Simulator: Landmark Edition.

PS4 players get access to Spellforce 3 Reforced, Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition, Dreams (which recently received Tren in a free update), and Midnight Fight Express. All four titles should be backwards compatible on PS5.

As for the Classics coming to Premium subscribers, there’s MediEvil: Resurrection, Ape Escape: On the Loose and Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, all playable on PS4 and PS5.

The publisher is bringing a number of notable games to its booth, while it will also be streaming new gameplay, developer interviews, and more. A number of these games were, of course, recently shown off at the THQ Nordic Showcase.

For starters, Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, which is launching later this month, is going to be playable. THQ Nordic is also bringing survival horror reboot Alone in the Dark, as well as the likes of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, Outcast 2 – A New Beginning, and AEW: Fight Forever. 

Other games included in the publisher’s lineup for Gamescom 2022 are Tempest Rising, Wreckreation, The Valiant, and SpellForce: Conquest of Eo.

Recently, Microsoft also shared details on what you can expect from the Xbox booth at Gamescom, including titles such as Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and more. Read more on that through here.

Of course, before Gamescom proper kicks off, we’ll also get Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 23. The 2-hour long live show will be hosted by Geoff Keighley and will feature over 30 games on-stage, including the likes of Hogwarts Legacy, The Callisto Protocol, High on Life, Sonic Frontiers, and more.
