Demon’s Souls – One of the Few

The Valley of Defilement is, without a doubt, one of the most annoying levels in any Souls game. Its enemies are plentiful and can inflict the Plague; the environment is narrow, making it tough to attack at times; and there are numerous places to fall to your death. So of course there’s a Trophy tied to this location – “One of the Few”, which requires obtaining the weapon Istarelle. However, you need to have Pure White World Tendency. This means defeating all three bosses in the area, and if you’re in Body Form, then not dying is also a must (since it will decrease your World Tendency significantly). You could tackle the area in Soul Form but the 50 percent reduced HP is a major hurdle on top of everything else.

The official Game Pass Twitter recently tweeted an image with the names of 280 characters. In a follow-up image, it had Takayuki Yagami’s name crossed out with the words “Oopsie woopsie.” Yagami, of course, is the protagonist of Judgment and this image could have been indicating characters from all of the games available on Game Pass. Crossing out the name could mean that his game isn’t actually on the service…for now, at least.

This is all just conjecture but this isn’t the first time that the Xbox Game Pass Twitter has done these kinds of teases (see DOOM Eternal and Control). If Judgment does come to the service, it would have to be the “remastered” port which recently released for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Stadia. Check out our review for it here.

In the meantime, Ryu ga Gotoku Studio is working on Lost Judgment which releases on September 24th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5.

As a spin-off of the Yakuza series, Judgment is about former attorney turned private detective Takayuki Yagami who investigates Kamurocho’s underworld. After a serial murder case emerges, Yagami is seemingly forced to confront his past mistakes and hopefully find redemption. Of course, along with tailing suspects and investigating crime scenes, players will get into different battles as well.

Lost Judgment is out on September 24th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5. It sees Yagami going undercover in a school in Yokohama, engaging in different School Stories and activities. A new combat style, Snake, is also being introduced along with new activities and arcade games (like a fully playable version of Sonic the Fighters).

Yakuza has reinvented itself and turned into a turn-based role playing series now, but for those looking for something more familiar, there’s always Judgment. The Yakuza spinoff launched for PS4 a couple years ago, taking the classic Yakuza formula and its brawler combat and mixing it with a new story and new cast of characters- and the results were excellent.

Now, a remastered version of the game has launched for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia (which means the entirety of the Yakuza series’ western releases are now available on Xbox). Judgment Remastered updates the original game’s visuals, kicks up the frame rate to 60 frames per second, improves the load times, and includes all DLC that was released for the original game. It costs $40, but there’s no free upgrade option available for those who already own the game on PS4. Check out its launch trailer below.
