Here's how you can build a roller coaster in Park Beyond.

Park Beyond is a new and whacky addition to the park simulator genre. Of the myriad options available to aspiring roller coaster designers, one design module stands out from the rest–the circus Cannon. This Park Beyond guide will give you the rundown on how to make use of it in your roller coasters.

During the course of the tutorials, Blaize will offer you a choice, in a cutscene, between two modules to unlock–the motorcycle Ramp, and the circus Cannon. Selecting the latter will begin your journey to learning to use the Cannon. All modules can be accessed from the Modules Menu on the left side of the interface.

The Cannon module in particular, propels the coaster at high speed over large distances of predetermined length. The two piece system requires you to first place the launcher, and then the funnel-like catcher on the other end. The required launch speed of the coaster will be displayed as a tooltip, while its airborne travel path will be depicted with a line of blue cubes. Beyond the other end, you can continue to place track appropriately to bring the coaster to a gradual stop.

The complicated part is achieving that aforementioned launch speed required by the Cannon. Use a combination of a fairly steep incline with a Chain Lift to build a lift hill that you can then use to send the coaster hurtling down and into the Cannon.

And that is everything you need to know about building a cannon-propelled roller coaster in Park Beyond.

A complete guide on receiving more visitors in Park Beyond.

Park Beyond is a theme park simulator, and as such you will be tasked with expanding the business, not just designing death-defying roller coaster rides. This guide will show you how to raise your Park Level and buy Land Extensions, so that you can increase visitor capacity.

Park Level is based upon the accrual of Park Appeal. This can be tracked at the top of the gameplay screen by hovering over the Park Level, which is the large encircled number in the very center.

Park Appeal, in turn, is based on a combination of the Fun rating and Cleanliness rating of your park.

Fun Rating

Fun is generated by visitors during the course of taking Rides or interacting with Entertainers.

You can improve upon both existing Rides and Entertainers by Impossifying them.

Any additional Rides you intend on building should be checked for their inherent Fun rating, prioritizing the top tier ones, even if their Profitability and Amazement ratings are inversely abysmal.

Hire more Entertainers as well, and have them outfitted as uniquely as your unlocks allow.

You can also neutralize fun-sapping experiences like Nausea by treating the afflicted with Paramedics, with Impossified ones being able to care for several patients in an area simultaneously.

Certain Impossified Shops also reduce Nausea through the Soothe Stomach effect, but only to passersby, and only every two minutes. This is still helpful to mitigate the expense of having excess Paramedics on Staff.

Cleanliness Rating

Cleanliness is based on positive or negative visitor experiences in the toilets and with trash strewn about.

Install trash cans wherever you notice an accumulation of garbage.

Impossify some of your Janitors with the Bin-Cinerator, so that they get a bit of a bonus with regards to how quick it takes to dispose of trash.

Use the Staff menu to hyperfocus janitorial tasks to specific individuals, so that they aren’t just wandering about aimlessly. For example, Impossified Janitors with Bin-Cinerators should be emptying trash cans exclusively.

Since they are relatively cheap to have on the payroll in terms of base salary, you have some room to raise their pay and instantly improve their Efficiency rating.

Hire more Janitors, they are worth it.

Visitors

To the right of the Cleanliness rating is the Visitor count which you can hover over to see exactly why visitors left the park recently. This can help you to directly address specific concerns from your guests.

Park Entrance Fee

Your park obviously has a fee it charges visitors upon entry. It is possible that this fee is too high and acting as an impediment to potential guests. Consider lowering the park entrance fee, which you can do by selecting the Park Entrance structure.

Land Extensions

As you raise your Park Appeal and your Park Level, you will also unlock ever increasing Visitor Capacities. You are going to need more space to accommodate all these future visitors and that is where Land Extensions come in. Select the bottom-most button on the left sidebar. This will present you with a land survey map of the surrounding area, including your own possessions and land available for purchase. Your last camera perspective is depicted on this map, so if you are confused about which parcel or lot you are about to buy, you can use that as a point of reference.

And that is everything you need to know about raising your Park Level, attracting more visitors, and purchasing Land Extensions in Park Beyond.

The park management title offers interesting systems with its Impossifications but has some issues. Here's how to address a few.

Bandai Namco’s Park Beyond can be fun when it isn’t crashing or suffering from numerous bugs. Though developer Limbic Entertainment has released two hotfixes, the park simulator still has its share of issues. There are a few workarounds which could help, so let’s take a closer look at them below.

Before that, please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems or issues that may occur from trying the below. Remember that official support is always the best support.

PC Requirements

First, check out the hardware requirements for the PC version. Impressions indicate that the performance All configurations need a 64-bit CPU, Windows 10/11 (64-bit) and 30 GB of installation space.

Minimum:

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400

RAM: 12 GB RAM

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2 GB or AMD Radeon HD 7870 2 GB, which delivers 1080p/30 FPS.

DirectX: Version 11

Additional notes: For 4K/30 FPS, you need a GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon R9 Fury 4 GB

Recommended:

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600

RAM: 12 GB RAM

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB or AMD Radeon R9 290X 4 GB, which delivers 1080p/30 FPS.

DirectX: Version 12

Additional Notes: For 4K/30fps, you need a GeForce RTX 2060 Super 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB.

Crashes

The first hotfix fixed two common sources of crashes, but PC players are still facing the same. While a new hotfix is doubtless in the works, you can perform the usual steps if your game crashes. Verify the integrity of files on Steam by right-clicking on the game, selecting Properties and navigating to the Installed Files tab. Select “Verify this game’s files are installed correctly” to fix any corrupt or missing files.

The next step is to update your graphics drivers from the respective websites/programs for AMD or Nvidia. Reducing the post-processing and anti-aliasing can also help free up some resources if you feel like load times are too long or too much slowdown is prevalent.

Workers Getting Stuck

As your park expands, you need to hire workers for various tasks, like running concession stands, picking up trash etc. They contribute to the overall Happiness of your visitors and ensure the park is running in tip-shop shape.

However, sometimes these workers can get stuck in the environment with no way to free them. Unfortunately, the only solution currently seems to be firing the worker and getting a replacement. It doesn’t seem like such a big deal until you fire one of your best workers simply because the terrain wouldn’t cooperate.

Park Beyond is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. You can check out our review here. Stay tuned for more details and updates on the title as it receives more patches and polish.

Note: Given the wide range of PC hardware available, some of the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. However, it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for some players.

Building up the theme park of your dreams and want more money? Here are some tips for getting more and increasing Profitability.

Many of Park Beyond’s tenets will look familiar if you’ve played park-building games like RollerCoaster Tycoon. You can freely design your amusement park, creating rides like rollercoasters and Ferris Wheels while raking in money from visitors. Understanding mechanics like the Heat Map, Profitability and more is the key to abusing them to earn lots of cash.

What are some other ways to rake in revenue? Here are a few methods.

Rides and Profitability

Defining your approach when playing is key. Do you want to appeal to teenagers, adults or families? Do you want your park to have something for everyone? When building a ride, you can check the Visitor Preference stat, which will tell you who it’s geared towards.

Of course, you also want to select rides based on their Profitability. The higher the Profitability, the more money a ride can bring in. However, consider the Fun and Amazement aspects – the former determines how happy visitors are with a ride, and the latter will determine how quickly you can Impossify a ride, allowing you to buff its capabilities (read more about that here). Make sure to check the different Hooks since they can further appeal to different demographics but should match the overall theme of a park.

You won’t automatically have rides with high stats in all three qualities, and there are also Upkeep costs to keep in mind. Look at the initial offerings as more of a future investment for the park while you work towards better options, but always keep Profitability in mind if you want more money.

If a ride is doing well (which you can view on the Heat Map), don’t hesitate to increase its entry fee for more profit. On the other hand, if it’s under-performing, especially in the mid-game while other rides are doing better, it’s a good idea to nix it in favor of something better.

Entry Fees

One of the more obvious ways to get more money is to increase the entry fees. Raising the cost of entry is a good strategy if your park is bringing in visitors while Fun and Happiness levels are high. However, it’s not something you can do immediately since you first need to build a rapport with visitors and ensure there are repeat customers. Suddenly increasing the cost may have the opposite effect and cause attendance to decrease.

When increasing entry fees, focus on steady increases rather than sharp hikes. It reduces the risks of suddenly losing visitors while ensuring some profitability on your end. As for how to increase Fun and Happiness, the former is determined more by your rides and attractions, but you can raise the latter quickly by having different amenities like bathrooms, benches and trashcans.

Keep these close by so visitors don’t have to walk very far. While you need to hire workers like janitors to maintain them, the bump in Happiness is well worth the cost. For more details on Staff and their roles, head here.

Product Prices

Several other tools can tell you what visitors want, which extends to the products that your park should have. If you check the products tab, it will tell you which food and drink items are popular. Based on that, raise their prices for some quick revenue.

Items with ribbons are strongly favored, so you can significantly bump their prices for more revenue. If an item isn’t doing that great, remove it. Check the Visitors tab to learn more about what they want, which extends to the different products. If a product is trending upwards, consider stocking it in your park.

Like any amusement park, rides and attractions will bring Fun and Amazement, while amenities will increase Happiness, but some of the highest profits can come from the refreshments. Jack up the prices for food and drinks, so even if there’s a hit in Happiness from visitors, you can use everything else in the park to compensate for that. Just remember to build up a well of goodwill first.

General Tips

When deciding on a theme for your park, stick to a single one. Several things like Hooks match the theme you’re going for, so it helps plan things better.

Pay attention to the Heat Map and see which areas are getting the most traction. Are bathrooms popular? Increase their costs. If certain rides are performing exceptionally, increase their entry fees. Of course, you’ll want to keep other things in mind and not gouge your customers, but these can lead to returns.

If you’re having money troubles, you can always take a loan from various lenders. They each have different rates – Bellpepper Finance will give you $10,500 but have a Friendly interest rate, while the First International Bank of Caimania can give you a whopping $20,000 but has an Evil interest rate.

Always go with the more forgiving interest rates if you’re short on cash. Once the revenues are rolling in, consider lenders with Grabby interest rates that aren’t too punishing. If you’re flush, then you can opt for the higher lenders. Once again, don’t take out a loan if you can’t pay it, or there will be trouble.

Park Beyond is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Check out our official review for more details.

Everything you need to know about your staff in Park Beyond.

People power has always been a mainstay of management simulators like Park Beyond. This guide will outline each of the four types of Staff you can hire, as well as what their duties are, and what their Impossifications improve upon.

Staff Statistics

Staff members are tracked with several stats, all of which are listed on the Staff page of the menus. Each Staff member has an Efficiency rating, which is based upon their current Energy level, Experience level, and Salary. Efficiency determines how effective they are at doing their job in a timely manner. Experience is accrued during the routine course of performing their duties. With five levels of Experience to earn, each level will give a boost to Efficiency in 10% increments. Salary is a shortcut of sorts to improving the Efficiency rating, that pegs a monetary value to it–simply raise their Salary for an instant boost to their Efficiency.

Energy is simply a meter that measures exhaustion through action. So if a Staff member performs a job, their Energy bar will decrease, leading to a corresponding loss in Efficiency. Simply construct Staff Lounges from the Service And Staff Facilities tab under Shops & Facilities, in order to replenish your Staff’s Energy levels by resting. Since they are relatively cheap, consider scattering several Staff Lounges in low visitor foot traffic areas of your park, to accommodate as many of your Staff members as possible, as often as possible.

Gear is an indicator of whether the Staff member is in their vanilla role, or has been Impossified.

Every type of Staff member has several class abilities which they will perform automatically. If you want to exert some measure of control, you can micro-manage which of these abilities kick in at any given time, by simply toggling them off (or on) in the individual member’s page. This can be helpful in certain scenarios such as having a Mechanic that focuses exclusively on repairing Flat Rides, not maintaining them, and ignoring Roller Coasters and Shops entirely.

Types of Staff

There are four types of staff in Park Beyond: the Janitor, the Mechanic, the Paramedic, and the Entertainer. Listed below are their duties and their Impossifications.

Janitor

Cleans up any residue that visitors leave behind, no matter the size, shape, or aggregation state, in a tireless effort to keep the park nice and tidy.

“We love our customers, but they tend to be crafty litterbugs…”

Clean Toilet

Pick Up Litter

Remove Puke

Empty Trash Can

Bin-Cinerator: Increases the efficiency of emptying trash cans.

“Ooh, that new Bin-Cinerator is going to be a big hit with the janitors AND the guests! And it’s surprisingly safe… Just so long as nobody throws away any fireworks.”–Sofia

Entertainer

Inspires visitors to fully immerse themselves into the scenery, enhancing their overall experience of the park and making their stay the best it can be.

Captain Twinkle

“It’s not often that I find myself lost for words, but such is the mind-bending awesomeness of this that you’re going to have to fill in the blanks yourself. Fingers crossed your head doesn’t literally explode.”–Sofia

Steamhunk

“These costumes contain a fully functional water boiler! It’s not actually needed and it just weighs things down, but Phil insisted on verisimilitude”–Sofia.

If at a later time, you wish to switch out the Entertainer’s costume, you can do so from the Staff page, by selecting the Staff member and clicking the tile displaying their current Impossified costume. Here is the list of other costumes available:

Carnival Costume

Frontier Costume

Zombie Costume

Ser’A’Votl

Emperor Sundae

Vitruvia Vinci

Zombie Abominator

Pac-Man

Blinky

Inky

Clyde

Pinky

Guiding Staff

Like in most management sims of its ilk, control of units is hands-off in Park Beyond. In order to get Staff to do what you want them to do, you will have to lead them through the use or non-use of their abilities. As mentioned previously, these duties are toggleable between on and off. Ideally, you will properly delegate highly specific duties between individuals, such as forcing a Bin-Cinerator Janitor to only Empty Trash Can. This is because of the high efficiency of the Impossification for that particular task. Likewise, only a PsychAmp Rig Paramedic should handle Cure Newphoria because of the larger area they can cover at once.

Placing Staff Lounges at the other end of a long walk to the edges of the park, from the spots where Staff usually congregates can also convince Staff to traverse over certain stretches of the paths in your park.

And that is everything to know about Staff and their roles in Park Beyond.

A complete guide on making Impossifications in Park Beyond.

Park Beyond is the latest amusement park simulator in the genre. One of the game’s standout gameplay mechanics, dubbed Impossification, is the method by which you can improve your park in hilarious and unexpected ways. This guide will show you how to generate the Amazement required to impossify everything from rides to staff members.

Amazement

Park Beyond tracks how much your visitors enjoy your rides with the Amazement rating–the higher the amazement rating, the greater the rate at which Amazement is generated. Fun rating determines whether the ride even gets visitors, and will supply you with Amazement over time, no matter what. Profitability has no impact on Amazement accrual whatsoever. You can choose to go the quantity over quality route, and simply have as many rides as possible to steadily build up your Amazement, or focus on fewer rides with the highest Amazement rating you can muster and squeeze out of them. As you accumulate Amazement, you can then upgrade each of your rides or enhance specific staff members piecemeal.

Newphoria

It is possible for your visitors to go overboard with Amazement, or overdose on it, one might say. This will have a net negative effect on your Amazement generation, but can be mitigated with Staff Paramedics that will tend to those afflicted with Newphoria.

Impossifications

Once you have sufficiently filled up the marker-like Amazement scale in the upper-left corner, you can begin impossifying almost everything in your park, including the staff. Begin by clicking the marker to enter Impossification mode, highlighting everything that can be impossified. Select a Ride, Shop, or Staff to see what the upgrade will do, represented in blue additions to base stats for Rides, for example. The cost in Impossification charges will depend on what you intend to upgrade.

Flat Rides and Roller Coasters require five charges to modify. Following through on the process to completion, will cause the ride to change names and raise its upkeep cost. The ratings will also be raised in terms of Fun, Profitability, and Amazement, but Visitor Preference should stay the same. Graphically, the ride will drastically alter its appearance. With several rides it is entirely possible to impossify them a second time, raising their ratings further, and changing their appearance again. Roller Coaster impossifications are a lot more complex as they require the base coaster to be modified by you to some degree.

Shops require only two charges to upgrade. While ride upgrades are somewhat straightforward, Shops require some pause for thought. This is because an additional building will be made available to place, and it must be in the general vicinity of the Shop itself. Since Shops are both ready-to-place and player customizable, it might help to design your shops with this in mind ahead of time. While the Shop gains a new item for sale, the extension itself will boost Fun or Amazement of passers-by, as well as Soothe Stomach or Give Energy. Exactly, which buffs the shop provides is determined by the shop type. Upkeep is also raised for impossified Shops.

Staff members require just a single impossification charge to transform into their better selves. Once successful, they will wield new equipment and will require more upkeep. Impossified staff also perform their usual tasks differently in visual terms, and this can be quite entertaining to observe.

And that is everything about Impossification in Park Beyond.

Limbic Entertainment's theme park builder is a charming and enjoyable game that fans of the genre won't want to miss.

Management sims have always been able to cast a strange spell over me, in a way that almost no other genre can. I wouldn’t say they’re my favourite genre, I wouldn’t say I’m an avid fan that keeps an eye out for promising upcoming games, hell, I wouldn’t even say I play them all that often. Every now and again though, I do pick one up and pour anywhere between a few dozen to a few hundred hours into it, from Football Manager to Jurassic World Evolution to even something relatively more obscure like Mad Games Tycoon 2.

And every time I do, I’m reminded of where this all started for me- it started with RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, an absolute gem of a game that I spent so much of my childhood playing. It’s the game that got me into this genre, and it’s something I’ve been intermittently chasing since. That’s why Park Beyond appealed to me as much as it did the moment I first saw it, because like many others, I’ve been on the lookout for something that scratches that RCT itch for a while. And though I wouldn’t say Limbic Entertainment’s new theme park builder even comes close to touching those heights, I am happy to say, without reservations, that Park Beyond is an absolute blast, and that it’s an experience that carves out a unique niche for itself.

"Though I wouldn’t say Limbic Entertainment’s new theme park builder even comes close to touching the heights of the genre’s greatest games, I am happy to say, without reservations, that Park Beyond is an absolute blast, and that it’s an experience that carves out a unique niche for itself."

It works on multiple levels, both of which appeal to me greatly- it works as a solid theme park builder, with all the complexities and mechanics you’d expect to see in a game of this sort, from building rides and expanding your park to improving other facilities and chasing visitor satisfaction. Beyond that, it also succeeds in delivering something fresh and unique, thanks to its impossification mechanic, which lets you build rides (among other things) that defy all laws of physics and logic, to turn your park into the most ridiculous, fantastical, over-the-top place that you could imagine. A game that focused exclusive on the first of these two categories would have been solid enough in my book as it is, so the fact that Park Beyond chooses to build on top of that with its own unique ideas – and actually does it well – isn’t something I take for granted.

On either level, what helps Park Beyond be as fun as it is are its customization mechanics and the level of options it provides in how to build your manage your park. On a fundamental level, you have a decent amount of options to pick from when deciding which shops, facilities, or rides to build in your park. Quite a few interesting prefabs are available for both flat rides and rollercoasters, while when it comes to the latter, you’re also free to custom build pretty much whatever you want (within reason, at least). With shops and facilities, you can build a variety of food and drink stores, souvenir shops, washrooms for your visitors and lounges for your staff, benches to sit on, and, of course, plenty of decorations, both natural and artificially made.

The level of options here is good enough as it is, but Park Beyond also gives you a great degree of control over how to personalize and customize almost every single one of these things. For rides, you can choose what elevation you’re building at, what music they play for their visitors, what their entrances look like, what speed the rollercoasters launch at, and more. For shops, you can pick between a handful of themes for every single building on an individual level, decide what they carry in their selection of goods, and even decide the individual prices of every single thing they’re selling.

"What helps Park Beyond be as fun as it is are its customization mechanics and the level of options it provides in how to build your manage your park."

You can terraform the land however you see fit, you have a healthy selection of maps to choose from so you can build your park in whatever biome you want, and you can choose between a few themes for your park, including Wild West and candyland. You can go into the nitty gritties of the needs and wants of your visitors and really finetune your theme park experience that way, you can target different age groups as your primary audience- the game really does give you an impressive level of control over building your park, even if it isn’t something we haven’t seen before from games in the genre in the past. In fact, something like Planet Coaster offers far more.

The customization mechanics really shine through when you’re building your your own rollercoasters. Using different kinds of tracks and the freeform building mechanics, you can build almost anything you can think up, with all the loops, peaks and valleys, or twirling tracks you want. Park Beyond also lets you tunnel your tracks through the mountains, the ground, and even water bodies, so sections of your rollercoaster can loop in and out of mountains, go underground before coming back up again, or speed through underwater tunnels. As you might imagine, building something vast and varied and complicated and then being able to sit in the passenger seat to experience it firsthand can be quite a lot of fun- although the process of testing every rollercoaster and making sure it works before being able to open it can be a bit tedious at times, even with the fast-forward options.

All of this is before you even take the impossification mechanic into account. When visitors use the rides in your park, they generate something called amazement, with each ride generating different levels of amazement. Generate enough of that, and you gain the ability to impossify not only every single one of your rides, but also every single one of your park’s shops and facilities, and even the staff that you’ve hired, and different varieties in all three of those categories get impossified in different ways. Impossify a janitor, and instead of a vacuum cleaner, they’ll start carrying a flamethrower. Impossify an entertainer, and they’ll start walking around in mascot costumes. Impossify a rollercoaster, and it could do anything from shooting cars out of canons to making them temporarily defy the laws of gravity. Every flat ride also gets its own unique impossifications. The process of impossification is exactly as fun as it sounds, and generating the amazement you need to be able to impossify as much of your park as you can works as an excellent motivator to keep investing more time into building more.

"The process of impossification is exactly as fun as it sounds, and generating the amazement you need to be able to impossify as much of your park as you can works as an excellent motivator to keep investing more time into building more."

All of this is able to shine through in the sandbox mode much more than the campaign. Don’t get me wrong, the latter is a pretty fun experience in its own right. It takes you from one map to another and gives you a variety of fun objectives to accomplish, while also serving as a solid primer on how to play the game and how to get to grips with its mechanics. There’s also a charming cast of characters, even though they (and what passes for a story here) do perhaps get a bit more screentime than they should in a game like this. It’s just that the campaign is much more structured, and as such, curtails some of the game’s best elements- the freedom to build what you want and having the customization options to do it how you want. That is, of course, by design, but after playing through the first couple of chapters, I was beginning to feel the weight of the restrictions that came with that structure.

Fortunately, you have the freedom to jump into sandbox mode whenever you want, which is what I did at that point. And it was a good call, too, because once I’d become comfortable with the game’s central loop and its mechanics, having the freedom to play it my way without any imposed restrictions allowed me to get a much better appreciation of the game’s moment-to-moment gameplay. I just picked a map I liked, gave myself unlimited money, checked the option to have every single option and feature unlocked from the beginning, and started building. That’s where I’ve had the most fun with Park Builder, and it’s where I’m going to have plenty more going forward.

One major issue I have had with Park Beyond, however, is the controls. Now, it’s worth noting that I played the game on PS5, and obviously, a game like this is best suited for PC. If I had played it on PC, I probably wouldn’t have had as many issues- but playing on a gamepad instead of with a mouse and keyboard, I ran into plenty of issues with how confusing and hard to read and navigate the UI can be at times, or how finnicky the controls can get when you need more precision. A few quality-of-life issues can also cause some frustration- like not being able to delete an entire pre-made house on one of the maps in one go, and instead being forced to delete every single individual element one-by-one. There were hundreds of components that collectively made up that house, and demolishing the whole thing was a bit of a nightmare.

"Park Beyond works on a fundamental level as a fun and addictive theme park builder and management sim, and then adds its own flare and spice on top with the impossification mechanic, which never stops being a delight."

I also ran into a few issues that weren’t necessarily console-specific. The text that appears in the game’s UI, for instance, can be incredibly hard to read, and though some aspects can be improved by scaling the size, there are plenty of elements that the scaling doesn’t apply to- like all of the tutorial pop-ups. I also ran into a few performance issues and some glitches- including pathing problems, being handed objectives that I had no conceivable way of accomplishing, the entrances and exits of custom made rides deciding to stop working randomly, the game not reading that I had already completed some of my current objectives, and even a couple of crashes. Collectively, all of these issues, combined with the console-specific control problems, do add up, which is a shame, because the core experience here is wonderful.

It’s wonderful enough, in fact, that even with these problems somewhat dragging down the experience (until Limbic Entertainment hopefully patches them out, at least), I find Park Beyond a very easy game to recommend, especially for fans of the genre. It works on a fundamental level as a fun and addictive theme park builder and management sim, and then adds its own flare and spice on top with the impossification mechanic, which never stops being a delight. Is it the heir to the RollerCoaster Tycoon throne? Probably not. But does it scratch that itch to a satisfactory level? Absolutely it does.

The RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise has been slumbering for a long time now, but fans who’ve been hoping to get another taste of its offerings have, at least, had another similar title to look forward to. Developer Limbic Entertainment and publisher Bandai Namco’s amusement park builder and management sim Park Beyond has looked promising in all that we’ve seen of it so far, and recently at the PC Gaming Show, we got another new trailer to build up to its imminent release.

While its core premise of allowing players to build, expand, and manage the theme park of their dreams is enticing enough in and of itself, Park Beyond is also looking to set itself apart from its peers by ignoring the laws of physics and letting you build all manner of insane, gravity-defying rides to wow your park’s visitors. Check out the trailer below for a glimpse of what the game will have in store.

Park Beyond is out in just a few days, on June 16, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Here's what you should know about Limbic Entertainment and Bandai Namco's upcoming amusement park builder.

Management sims, by their very nature, are a very niche genre, but those who get into these games can never quite manage to find their way out. And one management sim in particular that genre fans have loved for years is, of course, Rollercoaster Tycoon.

Soon, Limbic Entertainment and Bandai Namco will be delivering their own wacky take on that genre with Park Beyond, a game that may not have dominated the headlines over recent months, but has certainly caught the eye with what it’s promising to bring to the table. Ahead of its launch just a few days from now, here, we’re going to go over a few key details that you should know about the game.

PREMISE

Let’s start with the basics- what exactly is Park Beyond? In a nutshell, it’s a management sim where you’ll build and manage your own theme park. If you’re familiar with this genre, you already know the drill- you’ll start off with a patch of land, and using your limited resources, you’ll build something basic yet serviceable, and then bit by bit, as you start getting more traffic (and more money) in, you’ll improve various aspects of your park to keep on making it progressively better, more elaborate, and more complex. That is a solid premise in and of itself, of course, but Park Beyond is doing a few things to set itself apart from some of its peers.

IMPOSSIFICATION

The key mechanic that’s looking like Park Beyond’s biggest and most interesting selling point is what the developers have dubbed “impossification”. Plain and simple, the impossification system will allow you to build rides that don’t have to abide by the laws of physics and gravity. As such, safety and precaution will go out the window, and you’ll instead be encouraged to build the craziest and most ridiculous rides that you can, from gravity-defying Ferris wheels to rollercoaster tracks that weave their way through tunnels and mountains, and anything else your imagination can conure up.

AMAZEMENT

Park Beyond will allow players to get creative with impossified versions of rides, but it will, as you might image, adopt a structured approach, in that you’ll have to research and unlock new ways to impossify your rides. To do that, in turn, you’ll need to accumulate “amazement”, which will essentially be generated by park visitors as they experience the rides in your par, with impossified rides generating greater amounts.

CUSTOMIZING RIDES AND FACILITIES

Developer Limbic Entertainment is promising an extensive amount of control over customizing all aspects of your park, from rides to facilities. Players will be able to freely build across massive parks and have control granular aspects like the shapes, sizes, and colours of the paths you’re building, the prices of your rides, the inventories and prices of different kinds of shops and facilities, having different varying for buildings, adding unique colours, lights, and music to rides, freely placing a wide variety of decorative elements, and much more.

MAPS

While the most important thing in a game like Park Beyond is obviously going to be the rides you build and how you choose to customize the park, players will also have options for a variety of different maps to set their theme parks in. While an exact number of maps hasn’t been confirmed yet, we do know there will be several biomes, including deserts, Mediterranean landscapes, alpine mountains, and more, with each also having different variations, from a desert with an oasis to one that’s essentially a scorched wasteland.

TERRAFORMING

As you’d expect from a game like Park Beyond, players will also have access to a full terraforming toolset to shape the land on the map however you see fit in order to make the kind of park you’ll want to make. You’ll be able to make mountains and tunnels through which you can build tracks for your rollercoasters, you can make lakes and water bodies, and much more.

ADVISORS AND STAFF

A crucial park of building and managing your park will, of course, be building up a staff that can help you do that. That will require everything from hiring staff to keep your park clean to safety officers and more. Players will also frequently receive ideas from advisors, and whether or not that falls within the parameters of the kind of park you want to make will be your decision. Advisors will often also float conflicting ideas, like an especially complex ride that may or may not be financially viable, where once again, you’ll have to make the final decision.

BOARD MEMBERS

Another aspect of the management side of Park Beyond will be making sure the board members of your theme park are happy with what you’re doing. That will entail regular meetings with the board, where you’ll be pitching ideas for your park, and where, presumably, how well the park is doing under your management will influence the board’s decisions. Exactly how big of an impact these will have on the overarching progression remains to be seen.

VISITORS

Of course, just as important as the staff, if not even more important, will be the people visiting your park- after all, it’s their money that you ultimately want. Park Beyond looks like it’ll have a fairly heavy emphasis on studying social trends and looking at visitors and their dynamically changing demands to see what rides may or may not be popular. Ensuring that the ride you’re building aligns with what would drive a larger crowd is going to be key to helping your park grow bigger and more successful.

MODES

What exactly can you expect from Park Beyonds in terms of what modes it’ll offer? It’s going to be pretty standard on that front, if you have experience with the genre. For starters, there will be a campaign, where you’ll start off with restricted budgets and limited options and will slowly make your way through different sets of objectives to unlock greater options, progressively make more money, and continuously keep building bigger and more elaborate rides and parks. Then there will be the Sandbox mode, where, as the name suggests, you can pretty much play however you want, including turning on infinite money, the need to research and unlock new rides, and more.

PC REQUIREMENTS

Park Beyond will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at launch, given the kind of game this is, it goes without saying that a large chunk of the audience will be on PC. And exactly what specs will your PC need to hit to run the game? On minimum settings, you’ll need either an i7-3770 or a Ryzen 5 1400, along with either a GeForce GTX 660 or a Radeon HD 7870 for 1080p, or a GeForce GTX 1060 or a Radeon R9 Fury for 4K. Meanwhile, on recommended settings, you’ll need either i7-7700K or a Ryzen 5 3600, along with either GeForce GTX 970 or a Radeon R9 290X for 1080p, or a GeForce RTX 2060 Super or a Radeon RX 6700 XT for 4K. On either setting, you’ll also need 12 GB of RAM and about 30 GB of free storage.
