Geoff Keighley has announced that Gamescom Opening Night Live will be his next major event after the Summer Games Fest on June 8, taking place on August 22. Keighley made the announcement on Twitter, but hasn’t yet revealed further details on the event.

Gamescom Opening Night Live, as its name might imply, will kick off Gamescom at Cologne, which is set to take place from August 23 to August 27. Much like last year, Gamescom Opening Night Live will be livestreamed online, and will include a host of new video game announcements and news.

While we have a loose schedule for video game events happening over the next few months, little in the way of details have been revealed for any of the events. Rumours, for example, indicate that PlayStation is slated to hold its own showcase before Summer Games Fest on June 8.

E3 2023 was recently cancelled following a number of game companies opting not to sign on with the event, starting with Nintendo and Microsoft, and then going on to include Ubisoft and Sega among the companies that would be skipping the show.
