Capcom COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto spoke about how the company needs to tap into its other franchises to hit its profit and revenue targets.

Capcom has revealed that it has plans to revive a number of its franchises in the future. The company has published an Integrated Report for 2025 that includes statements from company COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto discussing the company’s plans to reach its revenue and profit goals in the future. While Tsujimoto noted that the company is focused on its core IP like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter, it also wants to tap into some of its older and less-used IPs. He went on to name Mega Man, Devil May Cry and Ace Attorney in this context.

“To improve our chance of success, we are working to resolve business challenges, issue by issue,” wrote Tsujimoto in his statement. “Our efforts are focused on core IP such as the Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter franchises, and mapping out mainline series entries and sequels, remakes, new IP, and ports of content to the latest hardware. We consistently release two to three major new titles each year, but recognize the need to grow our pipeline going forward”

“Capcom owns a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney. We aim to expand our user base and improve our performance through new releases, remakes, and ports of titles in these series to new hardware. By enhancing brand power and cultivating loyal fan bases, we will grow these into core IPs.”

To achieve these goals, Tsujimoto noted the number of decisions and initiatives that Capcom has started over the previous year. These include the construction of a new development facility in Osaka, which the company had announced all the way back in May. Along with this, he also spoke about bringing in more improvements to the company’s in-house RE Engine.

“Previously, we consolidated our game development in Osaka to promote efficiency, however, to further strengthen its structure, we are currently constructing a new development facility next to our head office, slated for completion in 2027. We have also acquired nearby land, with future expansion in mind. In addition, RE Engine, which supports our development capabilities, was developed in-house and is continually updated to keep up with new technologies and improve work efficiency,” he wrote.

The mention of Mega Man was noteworthy since, aside from releases of several remasters of the years, the franchise has been largely dormant since the release of Mega Man 11 all the way back in 2018. Capcom itself had noted back in July that the franchise is an important one for the company. At the time, however, it didn’t have “any additional information we can share at this time.”

Devil May Cry, on the other hand, saw its last major release in 2019 with Devil May Cry 5. 2020 also saw a small expansion made to the title with the release of its Special Edition. While Capcom hasn’t announced anything new for the franchise since then, public interest has likely risen in the meantime thanks to the animated series adapting the franchise on Netflix.

As for Ace Attorney, the last release for it was Ace Attorney Investigations Collection last year. There hasn’t been a brand new game in the franchise for quite some time, however, with the last mainline title being Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice back in 2016.

Mega Man and Proto Man will be available as new characters alongside the Rush Roadstar and a new level, Dr Wily's Castle.

Sega’s Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has already promised a star-studded line-up of characters for post-launch DLC, but it’s adding one more iconic star to the roster: Capcom’s Mega Man. After leaking earlier this week in physical versions of the kart racer, the Blue Bomber received an official trailer confirming his arrival.

Alongside Mega Man, friendly nemesis Proto Man is playable with the Rush Roadstar available as a new machine. Players can also blaze through a reimagined version of Dr Wily’s Castle, where various classic robots (including the infamous Yellow Devil) try to hamper the competitors. The aesthetic captures the series so well that it makes the lack of a new title so much more painful.

The Mega Man DLC Pack will be available later next year. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available in advanced access for Deluxe Edition owners, with Standard Edition owners receiving access on September 25th. Check out our review here. Thus far, other confirmed DLC packs include SpongeBob Squarepants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Avatar Legends.

“The Mega Man series is one of our most important IPs, and we are continuously considering ways to develop it further," it said.

While many might believe that Capcom has been so focused on its big IPs in recent times like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, that the company might have left classic franchise Mega Man behind. However, in a recent shareholders Q&A, the company reaffirmed that it still sees Mega Man as one of its most important IPs.

When asked about the company’s plans for the Mega Man franchise going forward, the company noted that, while it can’t provide any additional information at this time, it still sees great value in the classic side-scrolling series. It did, however, confirm that it is looking at ways to further develop it.

“The Mega Man series is one of our most important IPs, and we are continuously considering ways to develop it further,” said the company when asked about its plans for the IP. “However, we do not have any additional information we can share at this time.”

In answering another question, Capcom also noted that it has seen quite a few inquiries when it came to merchandise related to Mega Man, especially in overseas markets outside of Japan. “While we do not disclose individual sales figures by IP, we receive a particularly high volume of inquiries about the Mega Man series from overseas markets,” the company explained. “We will continue to focus on expanding this business further.”

Mega Man is largely considered to be a dormant franchise because the last mainline entry was Mega Man 11 in 2018. Since then, the company’s efforts surrounding the franchise have largely revolved around making the back catalogue of Mega Man games playable on modern systems through remasters.

Interestingly, the company had spoken about Mega Man being an important IP for it last year as well in a similar way. In a shareholders meeting from July 2024, the company had similarly stated that “Mega Man is one of our highly-valued IPs and we are considering how to create games for it on an ongoing basis.”

It is worth noting, however, that the Mega Man franchise has still remained largely dormant. The most recent release was a remaster compilation of the Mega Man Battle Network series. So far, the company has seemed unsure of how to modernize the side-scroller for today’s audiences.

Back in 2023, the company had spoken about how it was still looking into how it can develop new games in the franchise. Along with gameplay, the company was also seemingly looking at new concepts, ideas, and other aspects.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, which came out back in 2023, has proven to be quite successful for the company in the meantime. It was confirmed in April 2023 that the collection had already sold more than 1 million copies. For more details, check out our review, where we gave it a score of 7 out of 10.

The last new Mega Man game was Mega Man 11, which released nearly six years ago, in October of 2018.

Capcom has guided franchises such as Resident Evil and Monster Hunter spectacularly over the years, but other properties under the company’s belt haven’t had quite the same luck. Mega Man, for instance, has been one of Capcom’s most popular and beloved IP for as long as it has been around, but recent years have seen it increasingly losing relevance, with the vast majority of its releases having been re-released collections of various previous titles, with the exception of 2018’s Mega Man 11.

So exactly how long should fans expect to wait before the series returns to a regular cadence of new titles? Capcom was asked the question in its most recent shareholders meeting, and though a concrete answer still remains elusive, the company says it is currently “considering” ways to release new Mega Man titles on “an ongoing basis”.

“Mega Man is one of our highly-valued IPs and we are considering how to create games for it on an ongoing basis,” Capcom said (via VGC).

The last new Mega Man game was, of course, the aforementioned Mega Man 11, which released in October 2018. Other than that, recent years have seen Capcom releasing a number of Mega Man collections, so the franchise hasn’t been entirely dormant. Whether we can expect to see a new mainline instalment anytime soon remains to be seen, but fans will be hoping that the commercial success of all the re-releases will lead to that.

The Monster Hunter series has sold 94 million units, while the Mega Man franchise tops 40 million sales, and Devil May Cry hits 29 million.

Capcom has shared its Q1 financial report for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2024, and provided updated sales numbers for its biggest franchises. On top is the Resident Evil series, with 146 million units sold in its lifetime, up from 142 million as of March 31st, 2023.

The Monster Hunter series is next, with 94 million sales in its lifetime. It’s followed by Street Fighter, which has sold 52 million units, up from 50 million. The recently released Street Fighter 6 doubtless contributed to this goal, having sold over two million units since launching in June.

The Mega Man series is at 40 million units sold (with Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection selling over one million since launch), and the Devil May Cry franchise has sold 29 million. Dragon’s Dogma is in last with 7.7 million units sold, but that should improve with Dragon’s Dogma 2 coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

Capcom says it's considering "numerous factors" for the next Mega Man game, "including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay", and more.

Classic 2D sidescrolling franchises like Mario and Sonic are going to see modernized new entries soon in the form of Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Sonic Superstars, which, unsurprisingly, has prompted many to start dreaming about similar future instalments for other 2D classics- like Mega Man, for instance. Of course, Capcom’s mascon character has seen a fair bit of activity in the recent part, from Mega Man 11 in 2018 to Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection in 2020 to Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection earlier this year. But what can we expect from the franchise’s future?

It won’t surprise you to know that that’s something Capcom is actively thinking about. Asked about the franchise and its future in a recent Q&A with shareholders, the company said that it’s “considering how to approach” new entries, which includes a number of factors, including the game’s premise, its gameplay ideas, and more.

“Mega Man is one of Capcom’s historic IPs and is loved by fans, and as such we want to take care in how we develop the series.,” Capcom said. “We are considering how to approach the production of new entries in the series, which requires numerous factors, including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay, etc.”

Of course, while that’s far from a concrete confirmation of a new Mega Man game being in the works, it does at least indicate that Capcom hasn’t put the series on the backburner and is actively thinking of ideas for which direction to take it with future instalments. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we get a clearer idea of just what that’ll end up being.

These prosthetic arms in video games not only serve as a substitute for an amputated limb, but also enhance combat with new abilities.

Prosthetic limbs in real life might just be a primitive replacement for an amputated one, but video games have consistently used their imaginative worlds to challenge such real-life notions. Characters in video games have prosthetics that give them stunning abilities that can be used for all sorts of purposes, and we’ll be running down 10 of the best prosthetic arms in gaming that make you a force to be reckoned with.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – Prosthetic Tool

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice starts off pretty simple with the protagonist Wolf being tasked to rescue his master from the clutches of Genichiro Ashina, but that fight leaves our wolf handicapped with one severed arm. Thanks to the help of the titular Sculptor, you get a prosthetic tool in replacement which not only allows you to get back into the fight but also increases your versatility in combat. You can attach different weapons to this tool which helps you give an edge over certain enemies. For instance, the loaded axe can be used to break down enemy shields while the firecrackers can be used to distract enemies or you could use the flame vent to dish out some fire damage instead. On top of these capabilities, this prosthetic arm also allows you to close huge gaps through the use of an attached grappling hook – making it the most important part of your arsenal.

In his Twitter bio, Kazuhiro Tsuchiya reveals that he's "graduated" from Capcom. The producer was in charge of all things Mega Man.

With Street Fighter 6 around the corner and receiving great reviews (check out ours here), producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya has reportedly left Capcom. Though not officially announced, the developer’s translated Twitter bio (as spotted by Rockman Corner) specifies that he’s graduated from the company. As anyone familiar with Vtubers will know, “graduation” usually means departure.

Tsuchiya isn’t just instrumental in Capcom’s latest fighting game. He was also the series producer for Mega Man following Keiji Inafune’s departure, working on all of the Legacy Collections and Mega Man 11. His most recent release is Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, which sold over one million units in less than two weeks.

Where the series goes from here, especially the live-service title Mega Man X DiVE, remains to be seen. It’s been some time since Capcom’s last major mainline title, so hopefully, there will be something announced. Stay tuned for more details and updates in the meantime.

Ice levels can be a lot of fun, but these 15 levels are anything but.

Variety is the spice of life, and that extends to video games too. Developers often tend to mix things up with different environmental conditions for their levels, and that can involve having some levels with ice or snow as their themes. But due to poor design or balance issues, these new environments can sometimes prove to be more frustrating than challenging – which can cause these levels to become the worst of the bunch. To that end, here are 15 of the worst ice levels in gaming.

Iceberg Lounge – Batman: Arkham City

Batman: Arkham City is a great game with plenty of high points, but the Iceberg Lounge isn’t one of those. And the reason behind it is simply how uninventive this section is to play, since it requires pulling the Dark Knight across an iced out pool of water through the Batclaw. If something goes awry during this process, a shark will come out of the water and eat you and you’ll have to do it all over again. In addition to this, you only get to fight a few goons during this section – so it’s also pretty light on the action as well. All in all, it’s not difficult or very frustrating, but it can be surprisingly unremarkable – which is why it deserves its rightful place in this list.
