While Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is getting closer to its September 25 release date on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2, it looks like another classic video game character will part of the kart racer’s roster. As caught by VideoGamesChronicle, Reddit user Wrong-Minute-1319 managed to get their hands on an early physical copy of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and revealed that Mega Man will be one of the DLC characters coming tot he game.

In a picture posted by the Reddit user that advertises all of the upcoming crossover racers for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, joining already-confirmed IPs like Minecraft, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Avatar: Legends and Pac-Man is also Mega Man. While this likely means that the eponymous protagonist of the Mega Man franchise will likely be a playable character, he could also be joined by a wide variety of supporting characters, like Tempo, Beat, Dr. Wily or Protoman.

According to a website that focuses on news surrounding the Sonic franchise, The Sonic Stadium, the packaging for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds also indicates that another long-forgotten Sega character will also be returning as a guest racer in the upcoming game—Nights. The website also showed off the same flyer as the Reddit user, which would corroborate its authenticity.

While Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is still around a week away, in the meantime, players can check out the single-player demo that was released earlier this week. The demo, available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch, features 4 characters and 8 courses, the latter of which have been split into 3 main courses and 5 CrossWorlds. With a focus on showcasing single-player gameplay, the demo does not include any local or online multiplayer. However, any progression that a player experiences can be carried over into the full game.

As for the full release of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, it is slated to kick things off with 24 tracks and 15 CrossWorlds at launch, along with an expansive roster of characters and 45 unique vehicles. Over the course of a race, players can make use of 23 different items that can be used to give them the extra edge they need to win. Vehicles can also be customised with gadgets, with 70 different ones being available at launch.

It is worth noting that, while Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will feature plenty of crossover characters, franchise head Takashi Iizuka has confirmed that DLC characters will not have any voiced dialogues in the game. “There is no dialogue for collaboration characters,” said Iizuka. “Because of the IP, the voice dialogue is limited to the 24 Sonic characters.”

Along with crossover characters from other companies facing this fate, even non-Sonic characters that are nonetheless owned by Sega will also be subject to the same problem. This means that characters like Yakuza: Like a Dragon protagonist Ichiban Kasuga will also lack any voice acting in the game.
