The publisher reportedly seeks to create a free-to-play version with in-app purchases, though it hasn't made much progress.

Fans of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring are still awaiting new details for its upcoming expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree (seemingly in the middle of QA testing). However, it seems Tencent potentially has other plans for the title, like a mobile version.

Reuters reported the same after speaking to three anonymous individuals knowledgeable about the project. After the Chinese tech conglomerate received licensing rights for the title in 2022 (and even acquired a stake in the developer), it had a “few dozen people” develop a prototype. The alleged goal is to create a free-to-play title with in-app purchases akin to miHoYo’s Genshin Impact, but there seemingly hasn’t been much progress.

Elden Ring launched in February 2022 for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It received rave reviews from critics (check out ours here) and sold 20.5 million units as of May 2023. Neither Tencent nor FromSoftware have announced that a mobile version is in development, but stay tuned for updates in the meantime.

The free-to-play turn-based RPG follows the plot of the original Nickelodeon series. Pre-registrations are currently available.

While The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance remains unannounced despite its leak, Navigator Games’ Avatar Generations has been confirmed for an early 2023 release on iOS and Android. It’s currently available to pre-register directly via Google Play, while iOS users will be notified on launch day.

Based on Nickelodeon’s TV series (not the horrendous live-action film), Avatar Generations is a free-to-play turn-based RPG, which sees Aang and friends like Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko venturing across the Four Nations. You’ll build a team, unlock various skills and ultimately master the elements. Battles offer dynamic camera angles and team combos, and you can also equip companions like Momo and Appa to provide support.

In addition to covering the series’ best moments, there will also be some new and original content expanding on the setting. Post-launch content based on other Avatars like The Legend of Korra is also planned. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

The acclaimed horror title based on the classic franchise will see another re-release later this year on iOS and Android.

Earlier this year, we got the release of Aliens: Fireteam Elite. The multiplayer-focused title saw itself leaning into the more action side of the classic sci-fi series. But before that we got a much different take, something much more akin to the original film with Alien: Isolation. That game originally released in 2014 and was largely acclaimed, but did not quite see the financial success that was hoped. It’s since been re-released and rediscovered, with some new platforms about to get in on the scares.

As announced today, the game will now be coming to mobile, for both compatible iOS and Android devices. You can see the announcement trailer below to see that it looks pretty close to the original release. Here you took on the role of Amanda Ripley, the daughter of franchise protagonist Ellen Ripley, as she must navigate a space station while being stalked by a near-indestructible xenomorph as well as other unexpected threats. Of all the Alien game adaptations, it’s the closest one to the original horror tone of the original.

Alien: Isolation is available currently on a variety of platforms with the iOS and Android version now set for a December 16th release.

Some Among Us devs seem to be offended with Fortnite's latest Impostors mode, and took to Twitter to express their stance on the matter.

Fortnite recently added a new Impostors mode, which is a straight-up rip-off of Innersloth’s incredibly popular Among Us. Many Innersloth devs have recently took to Twitter highlighting the similarities down to the map layout for the game mode.

Programmer Gary Porter shared a layout of Fortnite Impostors’ Submarine map alongside Among Us‘ Skeld map, which looks strikingly similar. While he wasn’t around during the time of creation of the Skeld map, he still feels offended nevertheless. Community director Victoria Tran also took to Twitter to voice her opinion on the matter, stating that it would’ve been cool to collaborate for the mode instead.

Tran’s sentiments are largely understandable, since Fortnite‘s implementation of the mode can be considered as a blatant rip-off, since there’s been little to no effort on Epic’s side to innovate on the concept.

Innersloth recently revealed that console versions of Among Us are still in the works, and that it would launch on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Anyway that's my piece on the whole thing. Gonna get back to adding butts to among us or whatever

Following the unprecedented popularity of Innersloth’s social deduction game Among Us, Fortnite has also jumped into the hype train and added a Fortnite Impostors mode.
Activision president Rob Kotisch recently revealed in an earnings call that a new Call of Duty mobile title is in development right now.

In a recent Activision earnings call, Activision president Rob Kotisch has confirmed that a new mobile game in the Call of Duty franchise is in development at its internal mobile studio. The studio will also be receiving support from Activision Shangai and Beenox for development.

Activision seems pretty keen on expanding into the mobile space, which isn’t a surprise since Call of Duty Mobile has been an incredible success for the publishing giant. The sentiment is reflective to Rob Kotisch’s statements during the earnings call, wherein he said (as transcribed by VGC):

“We’ve created our own internal mobile studio and are driving a major recruiting effort, across Beenox and Activision Shanghai to support as well, and together these teams are leading an unannounced new mobile project in the Call of Duty franchise which we’re very excited about.”

It’s still unclear when the game will be out, but it’s rather an interesting prospect to speculate on. Given how massively successful Call of Duty Mobile has been, it seems quite strange that Activision would try to release another product in the same space to compete with its own product, which itself receives regular content updates.
