Grasshopper Manufacture's Goichi Suda says that while No More Heroes 3 was the series' conclusion, a sequel isn't entirely off the table.

2021’s No More Heroes 3 was the first time in quite a while that we got to see a new mainline game in the series, but of course, it also marked the end of the saga. Developer Grasshopper Manufacture emphasized at the time of its launch that the game was the series’ final instalment– though the door isn’t completely shut on future titles, it would seem.

Speaking in an interview with GNN (translated by VGC), series creator Goichu Suda (a.k.a. Suda51) said that while No More Heroes 3 marks the end of the series, there’s no telling what could happen down the road- and that if the fans are loud enough in their demand for a sequel, No More Heroes 4 might end up happening after all.

“Yes, that’s right, No More Heroes 3 is Travis’ last battle,” he said. “Nobody could say what’s going to happen 10 years from now, and I can’t say either. If there’s a big fan outcry, Travis might be back. Just like Tom Cruise came back as Maverick.”

If a No More Heroes 4 does end up happening, it’ll be interesting to see what Grasshopper Manufacture’s involvement in the project is. The studio was purchased by NetEase in October last year, prior to which Suda confirmed that it had five projects in development, with No More Heroes being fully back with publisher Marvelous.

No More Heroes 3 is set to launch for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 11. You can read our review of the Nintendo Switch version through here.

No information are given on what the IPs in question are, but Suda 51 describes a desire to develop games they can fully own.

After many years, the saga of Travis Touchdown (at least as told by Suda 51 and his Grasshopper Manufacture), came to an end with No More Heroes 3. The game lets the assassin go out on an epic, cosmic-infused adventure that’s largely been well-received. The question now is what is next for Suda 51 and his studio, and looks like a lot of things are already in motion.

In an extensive interview with IGN Japan, which you can see in full below, Suda spoke about the studio and its future. Here he revealed that Grasshopper had 5 games in some form of production. While he offered no details on what those IPs are, he said he did look at Grasshopper as primarily an action studio, but did mention that some of these games might have adventure game elements. He said that over the next 10 years or so, he hopes to develop new and original IPs that the company can fully own, since most of the titles they are most well known for are not actually owned by them. For instance, No More Heroes is actually owned by Japanese publisher Marvelous and while they did lend the IP out to Grasshopper for a period of 5 years, the rights have now fully reverted back to them.

Grasshopper and Suda have largely worked on smaller scale titles, so it’ll be interesting to see what they come up with in the future. Maybe Marvel will hear about Suda’s burning desire to do a Deadpool game. The future seems to be wide open. The latest game from both Suda 51 and Grasshopper is No More Heroes 3, which is available now.

The games will released on Steam for $19.99 each. Players who purchase them within the first week of launch will receive a 10% discount.

Publisher Xseed games and developer Grasshopper Manufacture have announced that they’re bringing No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle to PC on June 9th. The titles will release on Steam and retail for $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99 each. Both games will be on sale at a 10% discount for the first week after launch, according to the publisher.

This isn’t exactly surprising news as the games were previously rated for PC by the ESRB, but it is surprising how quickly Xseed and Grasshopper are going from announcing the ports to releasing them. No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle were originally released on the Wii in 2007 and 2010, respectively. Both games were re-released on the Switch last year.

The PC versions of the games will feature support for HD resolutions, 60 frames per second gameplay, and additional features including Steam Cloud support. A third game in the series, No More Heroes 3, will launch for Switch on August 27th.

Travis Touchdown coming be touching down on PC soon.

Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture’s action adventure series No More Heroes was among the most beloved in the Wii’s library back in its day, and the franchise is on the verge of its proper comeback soon. A sequel is due out next year, while the first two games recently got ported to the Nintendo Switch– and could soon be made available to even more people as well.

The ESRB has handed age ratings to PC versions of both No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. Of course, no official announcement has yet been made about the game coming to PC, so the premature listing comes as a surprise- but it should (hopefully) only be a matter of time before that announcement arrives.

No More Heroes 3 is also in the works, as mentioned earlier. Originally due out exclusively for the Switch in 2020, it will now arrive some time in 2021 (though a specific launch date has yet to be announced).

Travis Touchdown's first two adventures are available on Switch at a discount.

Much like Bravely Default 2, Grasshopper Manufacture’s trippy action sequel No More Heroes 3 was slated to release in 2020. A delay was announced last month, which was reiterated in a new trailer from the recent Nintendo Mini Partner Showcase. However, there’s some good news – No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle can be played right now on the Nintendo Switch.

As HD remasters, both titles have been discounted at launch to $17.99 each. The first game sees Travis Touchdown fighting his way through the top 10 of the United Assassins Association to become number 1. The sequel sees Travis down on his luck and having to battle vendettas to survive. New playable characters include Shinobu and Henry, Travis’s brother.

Check out release trailer for both Switch versions below. As for No More Heroes 3, its development faced hurdles due to the COVID-19 pandemic which caused “unforeseen delays.” Things are back on track with creator Goichi Suda promising to put “every effort” into its development. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Suda51's beloved action title could be coming over to Nintendo's hybrid.

No More Heroes is primed to re-enter the spotlight in a big way with No More Heroes 3 scheduled for launch later this year, but before we step into the franchise’s future, we might be getting a chance to revisit its past one more time.

As spotted by Gematsu on Twitter, the first No More Heroes – which first launched on the Wii in 2008 (or 2007, if you were in Japan) – recently received an age rating for the Nintendo Switch in Taiwan. There’s been no official announcement of the game yet, but age ratings have often been an early source for news on upcoming releases before they’ve been officially confirmed.

Besides, with No More Heroes 3 in the pipeline, it’s not a stretch to imagine that Grasshopper Manufacture will want to get more people into its predecessors as well. In fact, this is something that director Suda51 said not too long ago was actually being discussed. That said, until we do hear something official, it’s best not to put too much stock in this… for now, at any rate.

Meanwhile, No More Heroes 3 is due out exclusively for the Switch in 2020, but doesn’t yet have a specific launch date.

Unleash your inner rage with these games.

Anger can be destructive and destruction in video games can be cathartic. Put these together and you have the special Rage Mode/Berserk mechanic that’s permeated many an action game over the decades. What are some of the best games that do it? Let’s take a look at 15 of them here.

Rage – God of War Series

Kratos has always had his share of anger issues but on the other hand, his Rage modes throughout the series are just incredible fun. The first game is fairly straightforward – more damage dealt, less damage received. Rage of the Titans in God of War 2 upped this by allowing reduced damage from foes, immunity to knockbacks and debuffs, and up to triple the damage dealt. Then there’s Rage of Sparta in God of War 3 which manifested the Blade of Olympus while also providing increased movement, damage resistance and so on. However, we have to give it to God of War (2018)’s Spartan Rage where Kratos simply wales on enemies with his bare fists, gaining health regen and damage resistance in the process.

Just when things seemed easy, these bosses came along for a bad time.

Have you ever wandered through a level, enjoying life and all of its gifts, only for a boss to appear and ruin your day? Even if said boss didn’t outright destroy you, it’s definitely tougher than the level you just traipsed through. Odd as it may seem, this happens more than you’d think. Let’s take a look at 15 of the hardest bosses that can be found in relatively easy levels.

Tekken 6 – Azazel

Oh, Azazel. While scooting through the Story Battle mode, you shouldn’t have much trouble with the various fighters (including the King of Iron Fist himself, Jin Kazama). Of course, then you run across Azazel, a massive beast that fires lasers, stomps the ground to create spikes for multiple hits and even spins forward for massive damage. Azazel is considered one of the worst bosses in the series and rightfully so.

Suda 51 says he's talking with the publisher about the possible remasters.

The long-awaited third entry in the No More Heroes series is slated to come out next year. As of now the game is announced only for the Nintendo Switch. But the door is open to other platforms, as the spinoff, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, that bridges the gap between the second and third is coming to the PlayStation 4 and PC soon. It’s also possible we’ll be seeing the previous games in the franchise there soon.

In an interview with Dengeki Online, Suda 51 said he and Grasshopper were talking with the publisher Marvelous Entertainment now to bring the first two games, No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, to the PlayStation 4. The games were originally released for the Wii, with the first game getting a remaster on PS3. He only mentions Sony’s console in the interview, but presumably something like that would be on multiple platforms (thanks to Game Revolution for translations).

The PS4 and PC versions of Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will release this October in Japan (as of now there’s no western release date), with No More Heroes 3 slated to come to the Nintendo Switch in 2020.

The big bads we all wanted to fight, but never got the chance to.

There’s a certain expectation from any negative character being built up in any video game, that sooner or later, we as players will eventually get to face off against them. Boss fights are no longer as common in this medium as they once were, but some villains are built up so much, or so well, that when we don’t get to fight them – or fight them properly – we can’t help but feel a little disappointed. In this feature, we’ll be taking a look at fifteen such bad guys that we would have loved to square off against, but never got the chance to.

Obviously, there will be spoilers ahead.

THE ILLUSIVE MAN (MASS EFFECT 3)

The Illusive Man is perhaps the best villain in the entire Mass Effect series – and when you consider that the likes of Saren, Sovereign, and Harbinger are all Mass Effect villains as well, you know that that isn’t light praise. Mass Effect 3 specifically builds him up as one of your ultimate foes, so the fact that you never actually get to fight him is all the more disappointing. Indoctrinated as he was, going up against a much more powerful Illusive Man would have made for an excellent battle. And though the dialogue exchange between him, Shepard, and Anderson is intense, it’s still a bit deflating that you never actually get to fight him.
