Alongside coming to the PS5 and PlayStation VR2, Tetris Effect: Connected is also getting an update with new game modes on all platforms.

Developers Monstars, Resonair, and Stage Games have announced that alongside its PS5 and PS VR2 launch on February 22,Tetris Effect: Connected will also be getting a free update on all platforms that will add four new game modes.

As part of the update, all platforms will now be able to play Classic Score Attack, Zone Marathon, Purify Mode, and Master Mode. The update has a trailer, explaining the new game modes.

Essentially, Classic Score Attack is a single-player version of the Score Attack mode. Available in Effect Modes, it also allows players to switch between NTSC and PAL game speeds. Zone Marathon is a version of the Marathon Mode with the Zone mechanic. Both Master and Purify modes are now able to be played as endless games.

Tetris Effect: Connected was originally released back in November 2020 as an expanded re-release of 2018’s Tetris Effect. Originally launched on Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, the game eventually made its way on to Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Oculus Quest as well.
The VR remake of Capcom's classic has sold incredibly well, flying to the top of the charts and the top of the Quest's best-selling.

It was something of a big surprise when it was announced that Facebook would be footing the bill for a VR-based remake of Capcom’s genre-defining classic Resident Evil 4. While the franchise is no stranger to VR (Resident Evil 7 was an early showcase for the PlayStation VR), I imagine no one expected older titles, much less RE4, to translate to VR. Yet, it did surprisingly well, and the reception has been strong for the title. In fact, it looks like it made a little bit of history.

Jason Rubin, who is the current VP of Play at Facebook, announced on his official Twitter that Resident Evil 4 VR is now the fastest-selling app in the history of the Meta Quest, formerly known as the Oculus Quest. That’s especially impressive when you consider that the game was an exclusive to Quest 2 and unavailable for the original headset.

Resident Evil 4 VR is available now for the Meta Quest 2. The game will also get its version of the Mercenaries mode sometime in 2022.

We knew Resident Evil 4 would bring a different kind of thrill in VR, both for diehard fans of the franchise and those new to the game and VR. I'm excited to share that RE4 is officially the fastest-selling app in the history of Quest.

Originally included as unlockable content along with Assignment Ada and Separate Ways, the mode was absent in the VR version.

The VR version for Resident Evil 4 recently released for Oculus Quest 2 and received some fairly decent critical acclaim. And while it was missing some key content like Assignment Ada and Separate Ways, it will be receiving The Mercenaries mode next year. This was seemingly confirmed in a video released on Oculus’s YouTube channel.

The video has since been pulled but Biohazard Declassified managed to snag it. Interestingly, it also seems that the VR headset is being renamed to Meta Quest 2 to reflect Facebook’s recent name change. Much like in other titles, The Mercenaries involves revisiting levels and taking down as many enemies as possible to rack up a high score.

The mode was also recently included in Resident Evil Village though without multiplayer support (and it’s unknown whether Resident Evil 4 VR will include the same). In the meantime, stay tuned for an official trailer and more details on the mode.

The open world game in the storied franchise will get a virtual reality version, though details on it are scarce right now.

It’s been a big couple of weeks for fans of Grand Theft Auto, as a trilogy collection of remasters of three older titles were announced: Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas. It’s sure to make many people happy to revisit those titles with their slick and stylized new looks. But it seems for one of those games, it won’t be the only new look it’ll have, as San Andreas is apparently going into VR.

As announced today at the Facebook Connect, a VR version of the game will come to the Oculus Quest 2, which is the latest wireless headset from the company (now being rebranded as Meta). Unfortunately, no details were given about when to expect it or no footage to give an idea of what that may look like.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a classic from that era reimagined for the Oculus Quest 2 as Facebook/Meta partnered with Capcom to release a VR re-release of Resident Evil 4, so it seems this could be a trend. We’ll keep you updated as more information comes out.

The VR title releases today for the Oculus Quest 2 and presents Capcom's classic survival horror title from a brand new perspective.

Armature Studios’ Resident Evil 4 VR, a port of Capcom’s 2005 classic, is out today for the Oculus Quest 2. In the midst of reviews going live, some new gameplay footage has been released which showcases the opening minutes of gameplay. This includes the iconic battle in the village and the Chainsaw Man aka Dr. Salvador. Check it out below courtesy of IGN.

Visually, the improved textures make for a cleaner presentation but it’s the new perspective allows for some pretty big changes in the gameplay. Along with looking at enemies while running in a different direction, it also allows for more seamless aiming, especially up-close. Of course, actions like picking up ammo have to be done with one’s own hands which also adds to the tension.

For even more gameplay footage of Resident Evil 4 VR, head here. Facebook also confirmed recently that several changes have been made to dialogue and animations, mostly revolving around Ashley, to update the game for a modern audience. Learn more about that here.

Resident Evil 4's VR version has a number of cut dialogue and edited scenes, mostly done in the favor of removing sexualization of Ashley's character.

Resident Evil 4 VR releases for the Oculus Quest on October 21, and it has now been confirmed that some dialogue in the game was changed from this release. Facebook recently confirmed this in a statement to UploadVR, and these changes were made in close collaboration with original developer Capcom.

These changes were made to reduce the sexualization of the character of Ashley, the president’s underage daughter. Multiple voice lines were removed as a result, while some scenes have also been edit to remove some questionable parts entirely.

Facebook said in its statement: “Oculus Studios, Armature, and Capcom partnered closely to remaster Resident Evil 4 from the ground up for VR. This includes immersive environments and high-resolution graphics. It also includes select changes to in-game dialogue and animations that we believe will update Resident Evil 4 for a modern audience.”

Resident Evil 4 certainly did have a problem in this and it’s certainly great that Facebook took the opportunity to address the criticism for modern sensibilities. Critical reception for the game seems to be positive right now, with most reviewers appreciative of the game’s conversion to the VR platform.

New gameplay details and information on changes made to the game to suit VR have also been revealed thanks to hands-on impressions.

Resident Evil 4 has seen about a billion re-releases and ports since the survival horror shooter first launched for the GameCube all the way back in 2005, but even now, Capcom continues to find ways to keep bringing it back. The next RE4 re-release, however, is looking particularly interesting, what with it being a full VR-centric version of the game for the Oculus Quest 2.

Now we know exactly when it will launch as well. Capcom has set an October launch date, and shown new gameplay footage in a trailer of the game. Meanwhile courtesy of IGN, we also have some interesting gameplay details, specifically when it comes to the changes made for VR- such as fully interactible VR environments, reaching for your belt to pull out a gun, reaching for your shoulder to pull out healing items, and more. Get a brief glimpse of its gameplay below.

Resident Evil 4 will launch for Oculus Quest 2 on October 21. Rumours have heavily suggested that a remake of RE4 is also in development. Read more on that through here.

After launching last year for the Oculus Quest, First Contact Entertainment’s Solaris Offworld Combat is coming to PlayStation VR. The first person shooter is out today for the platform and sees teams of four players competing in the Virtual Holofields for a chance at glory. Check out the launch trailer below to see it in action.

Solaris Offworld Combat isn’t your usual team deathmatch multiplayer shooter. It sees two teams competing to capture and hold a control point. However, the point moves every 30 seconds, which means you’ll need to think fast to capture it again. The team with the most points wins.

Along with utilizing the DualShock 4 controller, the title supports the PlayStation Aim controller, providing the sensation of recoil. Solaris Offworld Combat is available digitally for PlayStation VR today but PlayStation Plus subscribers can avail of a 50 percent discount for the first two weeks. Stay tuned for more details on updates and future content in the meantime.

While all eyes are glued on Resident Evil Village, the latest mainline entry in the survival horror series that will launch next month, we also recently got the announcement that we would be able to revisit another beloved part of the franchise with a VR version of Resident Evil 4. The game was announced as coming as exclusive to the Oculus Quest 2, and is looking to be more than just a simple port with more details shown today.

At the Oculus Gaming Showcase, we got a few more details about the game. Alongside gameplay footage, we got to see how this brings a new spin on the classic title that originally released way back in 2005. The first obvious difference is this version is in first person, but there is also changes to how the menu and weapon switching operates to be suited more to the VR medium. It also has some improved gameplay textures and various movement options. Check it out in full below.

Resident Evil 4 in VR will launch on the Oculus Quest 2 sometime later this year.

Resident Evil 4 is back but not quite in the way you’d imagine. During its second Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom was announced to be working with Oculus Studios and Armature to bring Resident Evil 4 to VR. The title will be playable on Oculus Quest 2, taking place from the first person perspective. Check out the trailer below courtesy of GameSpot.

More details and gameplay footage will be provided on April 21st at the Oculus Gaming Showcase. Resident Evil 4 originally launched for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005 before heading to PS2 in the same year. It would subsequently arrive on nearly every major platform throughout the years with the Nintendo Switch version being the latest.
