F.E.A.R., the inFamous series, Lost Planet 2, Motorstorm RC and Apocalypse, the Ratchet and Clank Future saga and more are coming to PS Plus.

The all-new PlayStation Plus has rolled out today for select regions in Asia and has already been facing some criticism. If you were looking forward to playing PS3 titles, then there’s a caveat – they still won’t support DLC according to Sony (via VGC). This actually applies to any streaming titles at present.

While it doesn’t affect PS4 titles that can also be downloaded, PS3 games are streaming-only at present. The issue has been present ever since the PlayStation Now days and has carried over to the new PlayStation Plus. In the meantime, a list of PS3 titles has been confirmed for the service. Check them out below:

Asura’s Wrath

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

Crash Commando

Devil May Cry HD Collection

Demon’s Souls

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

echochrome

F.E.A.R.

Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds

Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational

ICO

inFAMOUS

inFAMOUS 2

Lost Planet 2

Loco Roco Cocoreccho!

MotorStorm Apocalypse

MotorStorm RC

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2

Puppeteer

Rain

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty

Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus

Resistance 3

Super Stardust HD

Tokyo Jungle

When Vikings Attack

Of course, whether these will be available in Asia regions which didn’t previously have access to cloud streaming via PlayStation Now remains to be seen.

The issue with DLC in PS3 titles is far from the only criticism that the new PlayStation Plus has faced since its rollout in Asia. Certain first-party PS One titles run in 50 Hz, even non-PAL regions and some users have complained about a smaller-than-expected library of games. Extra and Premium tier subscribers should expect more titles to be added in the coming weeks so stay tuned.

The all-new PlayStation Plus launches on June 1st for Japan, June 13th for the Americas and June 22nd in Europe.

"As we prepare to launch the new PlayStation Plus membership service, we are doing some work behind the scenes to make the transition as smooth as possible for all of our existing members," Sony says.

Not long from now, Sony will be rolling out the revamped PlayStation Plus, which will merge the existing PS Plus and PS Now services and add several new perks and benefits across three total tiers of subscription. The run-up to the new service’s launch has been a little messy though, to say the least.

Recently, for instance, it was discovered by many that existing subscribers of both services looking to stack their subscriptions by redeeming vouchers on top of existing memberships for the same were being blocked from doing so. Now, Sony has officially confirmed that that is indeed happening- no, it’s not a glitch.

In an updated FAQ page for the new PlayStation Plus, Sony confirms that it’s temporarily blocked subscription stacking until after the revamped service launches, or your subscription expires, whichever happens first.

“As we prepare to launch the new PlayStation Plus membership service, we are doing some work behind the scenes to make the transition as smooth as possible for all of our existing members,” Sony says. “As part of this work, we’ve temporarily disabled stacking memberships for existing customers until after the launch. Rest assured that your voucher code is still valid, and you will be able to redeem your code either when your existing membership expires and deactivates, or after the new PlayStation Plus service launches in your area, whichever happens first.”

Sony also clarifies that anyone who isn’t a current member of either service can still redeem vouchers. As confirmed previously, when the new service launches, if you’re an active member of both services, you’ll get automatically bumped up to PlayStation Plus Premium, the highest tier. Those with only a PS Plus subscription will be converted to PS Plus Essential, the base tier, and those with only a PS Now subscription will be converted to PS Plus Premium.

There is a catch, however. While a solitary current PS Plus subscription’s conversion to PS Plus Essential will be pretty much one-to-one, if someone who isn’t an existing member redeems a PS Now voucher after the new service launches, your automatic upgrade to PS Plus Premium will be “for the length of time equivalent to the monetary value of your original voucher”. So a month of PS Now will translate to approximately three weeks of PS Plus Premium.

Similarly, if you are an existing member and redeem PS Plus or PS Now vouchers after the revamped service is live, your subscription “will be converted to a length of time on your current PlayStation Plus membership plan equivalent to the monetary value of the voucher you are redeeming”. So a month of PS Plus, for instance, becomes either three weeks of PS Plus Extra or two and a half weeks of PS Plus Premium.

It’s a complicated mess, to say the very least, and doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence in these early days. Hopefully Sony will be able to sort out its communication in the coming days and weeks and be clearer and more concise with its messaging. And hopefully the library of games offered with PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium will be worth the headache.

To learn when the revamped PlayStation Plus will be launching in your region of the world, head on over here.

Sony confirms that those who're subscribed to both current services will automatically be given a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.

The revamped PlayStation Plus will be launching in Asian markets in less than a month, followed by launches in Europe, the Americas, and Japan spread out throughout June, and ahead of that rollout, new details on the service continue to emerge. When the new PS Plus arrives, the service’s existing version will be replaced, while the cloud-focused PlayStation Now is also going to be merged into the highest tier of the new service. But how will Sony handle the migration of subscriptions for those who already have subscriptions?

It’s already been confirmed that those who have PlayStation Now subscriptions will automatically be rolled into PS Plus’ highest tier, PlayStation Plus Premium, and now, Sony has provided further details in a new FAQ page for PS Now. The company says that those who are currently subscriber to both PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now will automatically bumped up to PlayStation Plus Premium. That will come with “a new single payment date based on whichever subscription is set to end last.”

Recently, Sony provided assurances that the revamped PlayStation Plus’ users will be able to upgrade from tier to tier without much difficulty.

More details are continuing to filter through on the service, so hopefully, it won’t be too long before Sony announces what the combined 700-game strong catalog of the new service’s top two tiers looks like. Stay tuned for more updates.

PlayStation Now subscribers can stream and download Outer Wilds, Journey to the Savage Planet, WRC 10, and Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood in April.

PlayStation Now isn’t going to be around much longer, with Sony having confirmed that it’ll be merged with PlayStation Plus’ highest tier when the revamped service goes live this June, but until then, both services are separately going to keep on operating as they have. After recently having revealed the April 2022 lineup of games for PS Plus, Sony has now announced this month’s offerings for PS Now subscribers as well.

It’s a solid lineup, by and large. Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is perhaps the one blotch, but other games in the lineup more than make up for that, with Mobius Digital’s seminal Outer Wilds being the highlight. Another sci-fi adventure, Journey to the Savage Planet, is also offered, while WRC 10 also joins the list.

All of these games will be available to stream and download for PlayStation Now subscribers starting tomorrow, April 5, so if you’re subscribed, you’ll soon have plenty of great games to dive into.

PlayStation CEO says the revamped subscription service's line-up will hopefully tick "all sorts of boxes" when it launches in June.

After months of rumors, Sony has finally confirmed its new subscription service – a revamp of PlayStation Plus with three separate tiers launching in June. The Essential tier is what fans are currently paying for while the Extra and Premium tiers offer access to a library of over 400 PS4 and PS5 games. Premium subscribers even gain access to retro titles from the PS One, PS2, PS3 and PSP generations.

That being said, the company has yet to confirm the entire library for both of its higher tiers. Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Death Stranding and God of War (2018) are a few titles but which games from “third-party partners” are included? According to PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan in an interview with GamesIndustry, the service will have “every major publisher” with conversations apparently going well.

“Whether it’s indies, whether it’s big games, or things that celebrate our heritage… all sorts of games. We are going to have all of it, and hopefully a line-up that ticks all sorts of boxes,” says Ryan. Of course, whether this includes the likes Bethesda Softworks and Activision-Blizzard, which are both owned by Microsoft, remains to be seen.

In the meantime, PlayStation Plus will continue to cost $10 per month even as it transitions into PlayStation Plus Essential in June. PlayStation Plus Extra will cost $15 per month, $40 per quarter and $100 per year. PlayStation Plus Premium will cost $18 per month, $50 per quarter, and $120 for per year. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now will be combined in this revamped service, which will also offer games from the PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, and PSP libraries.

Sony has announced that its subscription service PlayStation Plus is being revamped, offering more benefits to users across three available subscription tiers. Leaks detailing the same originally emerged in December last year, with more details about the service coming to light in subsequent reports, the majority of which have proven accurate.

For starters, PlayStation Now is being folded into PlayStation Plus, with the revamped version of the latter now encompassing both subscription services, in addition to other benefits. The base tier, dubbed PlayStation Plus Essential, is the same as current PlayStation Plus subscriptions, offering monthly free game, discounts, and cloud saves in addition to online multiplayer access for $9.99 per month.

The second tier of the service will be called PlayStation Plus Extra, and in addition to all of the above, it will also offer a catalog of up to 400 games to subscribers from the PS4 and PS5’s libraries. It will cost either $14.99 every month, $39.99 every quarter, or $99.99 if you choose to purchase a subscription for 12 months.

Finally, there’s the PlayStation Plus Premium tier, which, in addition to all the benefits of the previous two tiers, will also put quite an emphasis on legacy PlayStation titles. An addition catalog of up to 340 games will be offered to subscribers, featuring games from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP libraries. While PS1, PS2, and PSP games will be available via cloud streaming and as digital downloads, PS3 games will only be playable via the cloud.

PlayStation Plus Premium will also include all the cloud streaming benefits of current PlayStation Now subscriptions, as well as free limited-time game trials for select titles, so you’ll be able to try them out before deciding if you want to buy them in full. PS Plus Premium subscriptions will cost either $17.99 per month, $49.99 every quarter, or $119.99 for 12 months. The monthly cost of the tier is higher than competitor Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (which costs $14.99 per month), but the annual cost is roughly $60 lower, since Microsoft’s service doesn’t offer the option to purchase an annual subscription.

Sony also confirms that all current PlayStation Now users will automatically migrate over to PlayStation Plus Premium without any additional payments.

The revamped PlayStation Plus will launch in June, though Sony is rolling out the service in phases. June will see it launching in several markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe, and the rest of the world. Sony says “most” PlayStation Network territories will have the service by June.

Sony's rumoured subscription service, which will allegedly combine PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus, will be unveiled soon, a new report claims.

In December, Bloomberg reported that Sony was preparing to announce a PlayStation subscription serving to compete against Xbox Game Pass. Internally called Project Spartacus, the rumoured service will, according to the aforementioned report and reports since then, combine PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus, and on top of their benefits, also offer a catalog of backward compatible titles, extended demos and trials, and the ability to stream across multiple tiers.

Now, it seems that service is on the verge of its reveal at long last. As reported by Bloomberg, Sony will be unveiling its Project Spartacus subscription service as early as next week, and that it will “debut with a splashy lineup of hit games from recent years”, though the exact details of that lineup, its tiers, and their prices current remain unknown.

Bloomberg’s report also claims, as many have expected, that Sony’s service will not offer major new releases on the day of their launch the way Xbox Game Pass does- so Spartacus subscribers shouldn’t expect to have access to the upcoming God of War Ragnarok at launch.

Stay tuned for more details in the days ahead.

Users are reporting that their PlayStation Plus and Now subscriptions are getting merged, amidst recent rumours of a Game Pass competitor being announced.

In December of last year, reports emerged claiming that Sony was working on a Game Pass-competitor subscription service for the PS5 and PS4. Allegedly codenamed “Spartacus”, the multi-tiered service will, according to the reports, entail various benefits across its tiers, including a large library of PS4 games and a library of legacy games from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP, in addition to merging PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now’s offerings.

Recent developments might possibly suggesting that there could be some movement on that front. As reported by IGN Italy, some NeoGAF users have recently reported that their PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscriptions seem to have been merged. More specifically, users with active subscriptions for both services are reporting that both are appearing as subscriptions for PS Plus, rather than one active subscription for each. Meanwhile, another user also reports that upon renewing their PlayStation Plus account, they received a PS Now subscription as a gift for the same duration.

It is, of course, entirely feasible that this is a glitch on PlayStation’s end, but recent leaks would suggest otherwise. More recently, for instance, reports claimed that Project Spartacus is “pretty close” to launching. Other leaks, meanwhile, have claimed that a big PlayStation event is scheduled for March (where Hogwarts Legacy will also allegedly re-emerge and a Forspoken delay could be announced)- which, if accurate, might be the place where such a subscription service could get unveiled.

We’ll keep an eye out for more details, so stay tuned for any and all updates.

Just a few days from its launch, developer Flying Wild Hog has revealed that Shadow Warrior 3 will also be launching as part of the PS Now subscription service.

Developer Flying Wild Hog’s Shadow Warrior 3 is just a few days away from launch, and it has now been confirmed that the game will be part of the PlayStation Now roster on day and date of its release.

Additionally, a lengthy 10 minute gameplay trailer has also been released, which you can check out below. The footage shows off a mission called Dragon’s Nest, which is a great showcase of Shadow Warrior 3‘s slick gunplay, the different types of enemies, and of course, the signature Katana.

In a recent PlayStation Blog update, lead producer Bartek Sawicki said, “The Flying Wild Hog team has crafted Shadow Warrior 3 as the next evolution in our series to give more freedom to players in midst of the absolute chaos they create in combat.”

“The dance between wielding the katana and letting loose with a shuriken launcher or railgun before executing an enemy to finish the fight with fireworks cannon is an absolute blast. Wall running, swinging over chasms, and bringing down a 2,000-year old bell tower on unsuspecting demons will keep the action up even more than ever before,” he added.

Shadow Warrior 3 will be available to play for all PS Now subscribers starting March 1. The game is shaping up to a great time, and as such, it could be a great nab for PS Now subscribers. Sony has certainly been putting more effort into making both its subscription services (PS Now and PS Plus) more appealing to compete with Xbox Game Pass, and this is a great step in that direction.

Additionally, recent reports have indicated a Project Spartacus subscription service to be in development that’s scheduled to be revealed in Spring 2022- read more on that through here.
