In the recent Xbox TGS 2021 livestream, Tango Gameworks’ Shinji Mikami revealed to Xbox boss Phil Spencer that the studio had a new title in development (as reported by IGN). Though further details weren’t revealed, Mikami confirmed that John Johanas was working on the same.
Johanas was director on The Evil Within’s two DLC packs The Assignment and The Consequence. He would go on to direct The Evil Within 2 which received a good amount of acclaim from both critics and players. His role on the new project is unknown but Mikami said that he was “in the middle of working energetically on a new game.”
Tango Gameworks is currently working on GhostWire: Tokyo which releases in early 2022 for PS5 and PC. Much like Bethesda’s Deathloop, it’s a one-year timed exclusive for Sony’s console. This new horror title, on the other hand, could very well be exclusive to Xbox platforms, much like Bethesda’s own Starfield. We’ll have to wait for more details in the coming months so stay tuned.
