Ubisoft Massive’s highly anticipated update for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, which includes a bevy of changes to mods, skills, and PvP, is out later this month after delay. The game’s first raid, Operation: Dark Hours will arrive after that. However, in its most recent developer update post, developers Massive announced that they would not be raising the Gear Score cap to 515.
This is due to the fact that many builds would be rendered obsolete, as players grind all item slots to hit the new Gear Score. Since so much work will have already gone into preparing for the raid, Massive doesn’t want to invalidate players’ hard work.
“We don’t want to invalidate your progression and we heard that feedback loud and clear from our community. Your gear and your builds are important to you and to us,” said the studio. It also wanted to place less emphasis on just chasing a higher Gear Score. As for different ways to earn Gear Score 500 items, the developer has outlined them in the post.
So what incentives are there for doing the raid? Along with Gear Score 500 items, the raid will include “exclusive” loot, like new gear sets and its own Exotic weapon. Time will tell if it’s fun and worth grinding through, especially since eight players are required to beat it. Stay tuned for more details as the next update looms closer.
