The Division 2 – Massive Testing Gear Score Drop Changes

Recalibration changes and a dedicated blueprint vendor are also planned for the next update.

The Division 2

It’s been some time since the Tidal Basin update hit Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and faced its fair bit of criticism for World Tier 5, the dedicated Gear Sets and other changes. One particularly big issue was the increase in Gear Score, but loot potentially dropping below the player’s max score. With the current PTS build being active, Ubisoft Massive discussed how it was changing things on the latest State of the Game stream.

It revealed that the new system will now drop gear at the player’s average Gear Score and higher. The overall rate at which these items can be acquired has also been adjusted. Keep in mind that High End items will drop at GS 500. Superior (Purple) items will be capped at GS 490.

Changes to Recalibration were also discussed, such as allowing players to keep a perk at the same value when transferring it from Superior to High-End (so that increase to assault rifle damage won’t be downgraded from 10 percent to 6 percent on recalibrating). The developer also confirmed that blueprints from other vendors have been moved to a new dedicated vendor with Inaya al-Khaliq (who’s also in charge of crafting).

Finally, Gear Score 515 items won’t be available in the Dark Zone alone. They’ll drop from other places, but Ubisoft will share more details on this later. All of the discussed changes will be tested in Phase 2 of the PTS, if not included in Title Update 3, which brings the Operation: Dark Hours raid. So stay tuned for more information.
