The Elder Scrolls 6 “Most Definitely” Has More Trees Than Skyrim, Confirms Todd Howard

Speculations about the setting have begun anew, with some believing it could be Valenwood instead of the long-rumored Hammerfell.

With any smidge of information about The Elder Scrolls 6 driving fans into a frenzy, it’s perhaps appropriate that the latest should seem so inconsequential. A new video by YouTuber Any Austin explored the number of trees in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, which numbers 46,430.

Before calculating the same through in-game walks and game files, however, he also posed the question to director Todd Howard, who assumed it was 111,111. But does The Elder Scrolls 6 have more? “More…most definitely more,” said Howard in response.

And while that may seem like the most insignificant detail, it already has fans fervently speculating about the new setting. Some assume it’s Hammerfell, a long-rumored location, noting that trees could encompass tropical jungles and swamps. Others believe it could be Valenwood, a southwestern province that the Bosmer call home.

Regardless of your thoughts on the matter, it will be some time before we get any confirmation. Despite its announcement in 2018, The Elder Scrolls 6 is “still long way off,” though Howard later noted that it’s “progressing really well.” Design director Emil Pagliarulo also discussed fan expectations and how the team is “going to take our time” to make the game great.
