Electronic Arts has released several figures to describe the Year in Gaming that was 2022, covering its biggest games. For instance, The Sims 4, which went free to play last October, has seen 436.5 million Sims created this year, with 21.7 million deaths, 11.5 million gallery uploads, and 209 million gallery downloads.
Surprisingly, the most common cause of death was old age, followed less surprisingly by anger and drowning. Nevertheless, it proved extremely popular, with 1.4 billion hours played in 2022. The Sims 5 is currently in development, though a release date wasn’t announced.
Other notable figures include Apex Legends players sending 1 billion “Thank You’s” in-game. Some 88.4 million Legends died in the Ring and drove five million vehicles off Olympus. They also captured 830.2 million points in the limited-time mode Control and severed 22.7 million Marvin arms. Battlefield 2042 also had interesting numbers, with 117.8 million weekly missions completed and over 803,648 Portal experiences created.
Next year should be interesting with EA’s rumored WRC game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and the Dead Space remake on the horizon. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
