Electronic Arts and Motive Studios have confirmed that the Dead Space remake will release on January 27th, 2023 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

In a recent press release, senior producer Phillippe Ducharme said that, “Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. It’s been equally exciting to see players’ reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us.

“We’re making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and we’re happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year. We can’t wait for players, both old and new, to see how we’ve elevated the original experience in the remake to be just as impactful for this generation.”

In addition, Motive Studios hosted a livestream focusing on the remake’s art. It showcases how various aspects of the original, from environments and props, have been updated while keeping the original vision in mind. Dynamic volumetric lighting along with new atmospheric VFX in HDR have also been employed, lending an even spookier air to the surroundings.

Based on the 2008 survival horror title, the remake sees Isaac Clarke boarding the USG Ishimura for repairs (along with trying to find his girlfriend, Nicole). Unfortunately, he must deal with an infestation of Necromorphs and utilize various weapons, like the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle, to fight them off and discover the truth. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay for the remake en route to release.
