Anthem Public Demo Exceeds BioWare’s Expectations, “More to Share” on Post-Launch Content

Over 40 million hours of playtime were clocked over both demo weekends.

In contrast to the private demo weekend, the public demo weekend for BioWare’s Anthem went off without hitch. In a new update blog, BioWare’s head of live service Chad Robertson stated that the public demo “exceeded our operations”. The response from players was also very good – Robertson reported over 40 million hours played across both demo weekends.

“We hope you all enjoyed the small taste of what’s to come with the full game. As developers, we remain humbled by your positive response to what we’ve built. Thank you so much for your support!” said Robertson. He proceeded to share images of custom painted Javelins made by the community. With the public demo weekend out of the way, BioWare is shifting its focus to launch “and beyond.” Robertson stated, “Our development team is hard at work on finalizing our launch builds and beginning our countdown preparations. As I’ve mentioned previously, the launch version of the game has a long list of updates and improvements that were not in the demo builds. And, of course, launch will be the first time our community has access to the full game with all content.”

The development team is also “very hard at work” on “exciting” post-launch content. We had our first tease of live events on the last day of the public demo when fire storm emerged in the sky and began dropping Ash Titans into the world. Robertson promises that there will be “much more to share on that soon.”

Anthem is out on February 22nd for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The full game can be experienced on PC on February 15th if you’re subscribed to Origin Access Premier. For a look at some of the improvements coming at launch, including the Launch Bay social space, head here.
