EA recently announced via the official Twitter account for Origin that players will be able to pre-load the Battlefield 4 now for when it begins on October 1st.

Developer DICE recently released a list of multiplayer modes that would be included in the game, and outlined which modes will be available to play in the beta. Check it out here. The beta will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
Battlefield 4 will feature 10 multiplayer maps and 7 modes, including Conquest. There will also be a new Commander Mode for tablet users to assist armies in combat. Battlefield 4 is set to release on October 29th for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in North America and on November 1st for Europe. It will also be releasing on November 15th in North America and on November 29th for Europe on PlayStation 4, with the Xbox One version releasing on November 22nd across 13 territories.
