Battlefield 4 Multiplayer Modes Announced: Seven Ways to Die

Some new modes debut and DICE outlines which ones will be in the upcoming beta.

While the complete list of multiplayer maps for the upcoming Battlefield 4 has already been leaked, DICE took it upon itself to officially announce the different multiplayer modes we can expect in the upcoming cross-generational first person shooter. It has outlined which modes – seven in total for the final game – will be playable in the upcoming beta, such as returning modes like Conquest and Domination, and some of the new ones like Obliteration. BF4_Support Evolution

  • Conquest (playable in beta)
    Combat type: The definitive Battlefield mode – All-out vehicle warfare mixed with intense infantry action across land, air and sea
    Designed for: 24 players (X360, PS3) / 64 players (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
    Commander mode: Optional
  • Domination (playable in beta)
    Combat type: Fast-paced infantry variant of Conquest
    Designed for: 20 players (all platforms)
    Commander mode: No
  • Obliteration (series debut)
    Combat type: Mad dash in vehicles and on foot to deliver explosives
    Designed for: 24 (X360, PS3) 32 (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
    Commander mode: Optional
  • Defuse (series debut)
    Combat type: Competitive close quarters combat
    Designed for: 5 vs. 5 players (all platforms)
    Commander mode: No
  • Team Deathmatch
    Combat type: The classic shooter mode, Battlefield 4 style
    Designed for: 20 players (all platforms)
    Commander mode: No
  • Rush
    Combat type: Fight deep into enemy territory by detonating their M-COM stations
    Designed for: 24 players (X360, PS3) 32 players (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
    Commander mode: Optional
  • Squad Deathmatch
    Combat type: Four squads fight on the ground with limited vehicle support in a race to the top of the leaderboard
    Designed for: 16 players (all platforms)
    Commander mode: Optional

The beta will begin on October 1st for Xbox 360, PC and PS3. Battlefield 4 is set to release on October 29th in North America and November 1st in Europe for Xbox 360, PC and PS3, with a PS4 release due on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe. The Xbox One version releases on November 22nd along with the console.
