Recent rumors indicated that EA’s acclaimed Dead Space series would receive new title, which would be a “reimagining” rather than a sequel to the current trilogy. Reportedly in development at Motive Studios, a new report by Jeff Grubb on GamesBeat indicated that the franchise is being rebooted with a “full-fledged remake.” Even better is that the development team seems to be “taking notes from Capcom’s recent Resident Evil remakes.”
The next Dead Space is expected to use the first game as a “strong foundation” but with some new gameplay mechanics “inspired” by other games in the series and modern visuals. After the more action-oriented Dead Space 3, it seems the remake could return to a more survival horror style of gameplay. Again, time will tell but it’s good news for fans.
The remake is expected to be announced at EA Play Live which takes place on July 22nd at 10 AM PT. Electronic Arts has already confirmed that the event will run for 40 minutes and feature titles like Battlefield 2042, Lost in Random and Apex Legends among others. BioWare’s next Dragon Age and Mass Effect titles will not be appearing though.
