Horizon Forbidden West is launching in less than month, and one of the game’s many aspects that have caught everyone’s eye is just how drop-dead gorgeous it looks, not unlike its predecessor. Of course, other than some screenshots released by Sony and a few that came from leaked early PS4 build of the game, for the most part, we’ve seen the game running only on a PS5. And even though Guerrilla Games has provided assurances that the action RPG is going to look and run well on the PS4, pretty much everyone would be far more confident if we actually had any gameplay footage to see for ourselves.
Thankfully, we’ve got some of that now- a tiny bit at least. To go along with the announcement that Horizon Forbidden West has gone gold, Guerrilla Games recently published PlayStation Blog update in which they showcased three short clips of the game running on a PS4 Pro- the first shows Aloy in the settlement Plainsong, the home of the Utaru tribe; the second shows taking on a Clamberjaw in combat; and the third shows her going up against a herd of Bristlebacks. You can check out all three clips below (make sure to bump them up to HD).
The clips themselves are pretty brief, but they do look undeniably good- though of course, the question will be whether the game can sustain that level of fidelity and performance throughout the experience. That’s a concern for any game that launches across generations, so hopefully, Sony will have more old-gen gameplay footage (hopefully even something for the base PS4) and technical details to share soon.
Horizon Forbidden West is launching for PS5 and PS4 on February 18.
