While a bulk of Ubisoft’s output relies on established properties like Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed, and more, the developer does put out new IPs every now and then, and every so often, it works out. In 2020, we got Immortals Fenyx Rising, an open world action-adventure game based on Greek mythology that was part-Breath of the Wild, part-Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (which it originally spun off from).
Apparently, the game was successful enough to warrant a sequel. As per a new report published by Tom Henderson on Xfire, Ubisoft has been pleased with how Immortals Fenyx Rising performed, and has greenlit sequel. Ubisoft Quebec, the studio the developed the original, is presumably in charge, and the project is currently in pre-production. Henderson claims this is one of as many as 20 titles that Ubisoft has “lined up for some form of an announcement in the near future”, which could also be a dedicated event.
Back in April of last year, Immortals Fenyx Rising associate director Julien Galloudec said that within the development team, the hope was very much that the game would become successful enough to turn into franchise. Ubisoft hasn’t released any official numbers until now for how much the game has sold though.
Courtesy of Henderson, there’s plenty of other potential Ubisoft-related leaks to dive into as well, including the likes of Assassin’s Creed Rift, a new Prince of Persia game, and The Crew 3, so make sure to read up on that.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia.
