Metro Exodus Sales on Epic Games Store “Exceeded Our Expectations” – THQ Nordic CEO

Combined physical and digital revenue for consoles was considered, with regards to majority revenue.

4A Games’ Metro Exodus has been quite the success for publisher THQ Nordic. In its recent financial results, it revealed that the first person shooter was the company’s biggest launch ever. That being said, the “absolute majority” of sales were consoles, leading to fans questioning whether the PC version’s controversial (and timed) shift to the Epic Games Store actually paid off.

In a follow-up statement to PCGamesN, THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors clarified a few things. “Epic Games store has exceeded our expectations in terms of sales in actual units of both Metro Exodus and Satisfactory during the quarter,” he said. “Epic Games store is in fact the group’s leading digital platform in terms of revenue generated by units sales in the quarter ending March.”

As for his statement on consoles making up the absolute majority of sales, Wingefors said that physical and digital revenue for both platforms was considered. “This is still the majority of the revenues of Metro Exodus,” he said- which makes sense, but still doesn’t provide much information on how many units the PC version sold.

Regardless, Metro Exodus will continue to receive support. 4A Games released the Ranger Update in March and added New Game Plus as an option. It’s also working on the game’s first expansion, which is set to release in Summer 2019.
