Embracer Group recently announced that that it’ll be going through a “comprehensive restructuring program” that will involve layoffs, studio closures, and project cancellations. However, it’s been confirmed that among its upcoming games, the two major titles currently in development at subsidiary Crystal Dynamics won’t be impacted by the changes.
Crystal Dynamics is currently co-developing Perfect Dark with Xbox first party studio The Initiative, while the studio also confirmed last year that it had started working on the next mainline Tomb Raider game, which is set to be published by Amazon Games.
In an update published on Twitter, the studio has said that neither of the projects will be impacted by Embracer Group’s restructuring plans.
“Thanks to everyone for reaching out and asking about the most recent news by our parent company Embracer Group regarding the restructuring plans,” the developer wrote. “We want to assure fans that there will be no impact to our continuing efforts with our partners at The Initiative on Perfect Dark, or our next Tomb Raider title being developed in collaboration with Amazon Games.”
Details have been scant on both of Crystal Dynamics’ projects since their respective announcements. In November last year, Crystal Dynamics CEO Phil Rogers said that development on Perfect Dark was “going extremely well”, while reports have claimed that the next Tomb Raider is set to be formally revealed sometime later this year.
