Pragmata Debuts to “Overwhelmingly Positive” Steam Rating and Nearly 57,000 Peak Players

Despite not reaching the heights of Capcom's biggest releases, the sci-fi puzzle shooter has still been well-received on PC.

Following strong praise from critics, Capcom’s Pragmata has launched to an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam. About 97 percent of the 1042 user reviews recommend the title, and in terms of peak concurrent players, it reached 56,905 shortly after launch.

While this may not seem very high compared to the company’s heavy hitters like Resident Evil Requiem or Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s solid for what’s essentially new IP. Furthermore, it’s ahead of the recently released Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection (54,778) and Resident Evil 7: biohazard (20,449). Even Resident Evil 3 Remake is only slightly ahead at 60,293 peak concurrent players.

Capcom hasn’t said anything yet about sales numbers. However, considering Pragmata was announced in 2020 and spent several years in development to nail the gameplay loop, it’s probably happy to see it released and receiving such a positive reception. Where it goes from here with the franchise, if that’s even on the docket, remains to be seen.

Pragmata is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Check out our review here, where we gave it nine out of ten. You can also watch the story-focused launch trailer, though it does contain a few spoilers for the plot, so beware.
