As we all get ready for the April 17th release of Capcom’s newest game, Pragmata, the company has released a brand new trailer for the hybrid shooter puzzle-solver. Dubbed the Eight trailer, it comes in at just over 2 minutes in length, and essentially acts as a quick look at the overall story setup, while also introducing the character of Eight – a “Pragmata” similar to Diana. Check it out below.

Much of the trailer’s runtime also focuses on the relationship between protagonists Hugh and Diana as the two team up to escape from the Lunar base, which has been taken over by rogue AI IDUS. The trailer caps things off by Diana reaffirming her decision to go to Earth after the adventure on the moon is finished.

Pragmata will revolve around Hugh and Diana exploring the lunar facility and fighting off the robotic forces sent by a rogue AI, all while trying to look for a way back to Earth. Before the events of the game, Hugh was a member of an investigation team sent to the moon base to find out why the facility suddenly went silent.

What sets Pragmata apart from other third-person action games is its emphasis on on-the-fly puzzle solving during combat encounters. The enemies Hugh has to fight tend to be quite hardy. Lucky, Diana is capable of hacking into them to lower their defenses. In gameplay terms, this means that players will have to duck and weave through attacks while also engaging in hacking mini games to get the right opening for counterattacks.

Earlier this week, Capcom released another trailer for Pragmata, this time focusing on how its PC release will make use of Nvidia’s RTX and DLSS 4 technologies. The trailer offered comparisons between RTX mode being enabled and disabled, along with complete support for more advanced ray tracing through path tracing. This means more in-depth reflections thanks to light bounced around the environments in more appropriate ways. Along with this, Pragmata will also offer advanced image upscaling thanks to DLSS 4, along with support for Multi Frame Generation for higher frame rates.

With Pragmata being recently showcased on Sony’s Japanese PLAY!PLAY!PLAY! YouTube series, it was also discovered that veteran developer Yasuhiro Anpo is its general director. Anpo’s name should be familiar to fans of Capcom’s games, since he has been with the company since 1996, and even worked on the first two Resident Evil games. More recently, he served as a co-director on Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Pragmata is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. For more details, take a look at our review, where we gave it a score of 9 out of 10 thanks to its interesting premise and unique blend of hacking and shooting gameplay, while noting that Hugh is a bland protagonist. Players who want to give the game a shot before its full release can check out the free demo on their platform of choice. For everyone else, here’s everything you need to know about Pragmata.
