Xbox Series X/S and PS5 upgrades for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 7: biohazard are finally available. The three RE Engine titles will now feature ray tracing, 3D audio, and higher frame rates on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. PS5 players can also take advantage of the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Check out the trailer below to see them in action.
If you own the previous-gen version, then it can be upgraded to Xbox Series X/S via Smart Delivery and PS5 for free. Save data from the Xbox One and PS4 versions can also be carried over to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 respectively. A free patch should also be live for PC players (with updated system requirements for Resident Evil 2 viewable here).
In addition to these upgrades, Capcom also announced tons of new content for Resident Evil Village. Along with the story DLC, Shadows of Rose (which features Rose as a playable character), The Mercenaries is receiving additional playable characters like Chris Redfield and Lady Dimitrescu. A new third-person mode is also coming, providing a look at Ethan’s face at last.
All of this goes live in the Winters’ Expansion on October 28th and will be included in Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which launches on the same day. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
