Resident Evil 4 Remake Sales Surpass 4 Million Units

After selling over 3 million units within two days of release, the survival horror remake has now hit another sales milestone.

Resident Evil 4 Remake got off to a stellar start upon its launch last month, not only garnering universal acclaim from critics and audiences like, but also seeing impressive sales right out the gate with over 3 million units sold in its first two days alone. Unsurprisingly, it has continued to sell well and has hit another sales milestone.

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 4 Remake has now surpassed 4 million units worldwide across all platforms, adding another million copies sold to its already impressive launch numbers. The game’s commercial success has also been driving healthy financial activity for the company itself, recently having driven its share price to an all-time high.

Today, the remake also saw the launch of fan-favourite mode The Mercenaries as free DLC, though it seems there’s even more content for players to look forward to. Allegedly, The Mercenaries will get more new content with an update down the line, while Capcom previously confirmed that PlayStation VR2-exclusive content is also in development. According to leaks, Ada Wong-focused mini-campaign Separate Ways is also in development, and will be released as paid DLC in the future.

In our review of the remake, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “Resident Evil 4 perfectly captures the tone and strengths of the original game, while also managing to improve upon it in truly meaningful ways. In doing so, it once again becomes a standard-bearer for the survival horror genre, while also setting a new bar for Capcom as a developer, for video game remakes, and for the Resident Evil franchise as a whole.” Read the full review through here.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
