It features three graphics modes: Performance (60 FPS), Fidelity (30 FPS) and Balanced (40 FPS), with upscaled 2160p across the board.

With Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launching next week, Ubisoft has detailed how it will perform on PS5 and PS5 Pro. Besides HDR, Dolby Atmos and DualSense haptic feedback support, the most surprising part is that the remake supports 60 FPS on the base console.

There are three modes to choose from: Performance, Fidelity and Balanced (which requires a display that supports 120/240 Hz). Performance delivers 60 frames per second with Standard ray tracing, which encompasses global illumination for diffuse lighting. Fidelity and Balanced have Extensive ray tracing that includes reflective surfaces. However, the former runs at 30 FPS while the latter offers 40 FPS. All three modes output at an upscaled 2160p resolution.

So what makes PS5 Pro so special? While offering the same modes and frame rates as the base PS5, Extended ray tracing is on across the board. Upscaled 2160p is also enabled throughout, courtesy of the upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. You can also expect improved hair with individual strands rendered and reacting realistically.

It does vary, though – for instance, Edward has it in all modes during gameplay, but Fidelity mode will bestow the same to nearby NPCs. At least every mode displays strand-based hair for all characters in the cinematics, so even those who prefer a higher frame rate can bask in the detail.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available on July 9th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Ubisoft hasn’t explicitly stated whether the PS5 frame rates and resolutions apply to Xbox Series X, but you can likely expect the same. Xbox Series S is anyone’s guess, though, so stay tuned for more details.

Dynamic weather in Rockstar's open-world title seemingly includes "Storms and time changes that alter physics and gameplay."

For all the information that Rockstar is keen to drip-feed about Grand Theft Auto 6, there are some avenues that it seemingly can’t control. Retailer listings are one (as discovered by Resetera), with Amazon Brazil and KaBuM! noting several new details, including global illuminations, advanced ray tracing and realistic dynamic weather.

The latter is interesting because we’ve seen it rumored before. According to KaBuM!’s listing, you can expect “Storms and time changes that alter physics and gameplay.” Previous reports alleged that high-speed driving will be affected alongside the environment. Maybe it’s the difference between dusty roads on Mount Kalaga and muddy trails, with the latter being far more slippery.

The PlayStation Store already confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is PS5 Pro Enhanced, but further details are still pending. The listings, however, indicate “improved performance, more stable frame rates (FPS), and even sharper resolutions.” Which is all well and good, but the resolution and frame rates for base consoles haven’t even been revealed, so there’s not much of a basis to go on.

Regardless, it’s part of PlayStation’s close partnership with Rockstar and the push that Grand Theft Auto 6 truly plays best on PS5. With the title launching on November 19th for $80 ($100 if you want all the exclusive store access in the Ultimate Edition), there’s still plenty of time to learn more. At the very least, you can learn more about how Rockstar leverages the DualSense in different ways.

The Doom Slayer is getting a visual upgrade that makes him look better and feel deadlier alongside the Revelations DLC that’s out next month.

We’ve got some good news if you’re waiting with bated breath for that “ginormous” Revelations DLC for DOOM: The Dark Ages on your PS5 Pro. A free update is dropping alongside the DLC, bringing support for the improved version of PSSR that Sony brought out earlier this year.

That means sharper visuals, a cleaner image, and a whole new level of detail in a game that doesn’t shy away from showing you just how brutal your kills are as you tear through demonic hordes. Of course, we’re guessing that the Chain Spear is going to take all of that up a notch, and the new visuals are sure to make it look and feel a whole lot more authentic as your PS5 Pro works behind the scenes to ensure that every little bit of gore is showcased in all its glory.

It’s definitely a welcome addition to a shooter that we absolutely loved when it was first released, and the new graphical upgrade is more than enough reason for a new playthrough if you’re looking to brush up on the story ahead of whatever the DLC has in store for us all. As always, we’re going to be wading through those demons right alongside you, and you can bet that we’ll be giving it a spin on our PS5 Pro in the process.

More details on everything the update is bringing to the table can be found here.

Further details have yet to be revealed, however, as the open-world title continues its march towards a November 19th launch.

With the influx of Grand Theft Auto 6 news, especially as pre-orders begin to go live around the world, one detail nearly slipped under the radar. It’s always been highly likely, but now the official PlayStation Store listing confirms that the title will be PS5 Pro Enhanced.

Of course, how it will leverage the console’s hardware remains unknown, though you’d have to assume some usage of PSSR to ensure high-quality visuals with fast performance. Sony certainly wouldn’t reveal anything, as it detailed all the ways that the title leverages the DualSense. It also touted “near-instant load times” – undoubtedly a feature on Xbox Series X/S as well, but more a testament to the seamlessness of exploration.

Regardless, there’s plenty of time to learn more, especially the resolution and frame rate on the base PS5 and Xbox. Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19th for consoles and will retail for $80.

The Ultimate Edition costs $100 and includes a bevvy of different bonuses, including access to cars, special missions and whatnot. Perhaps most intriguing is that five stores will be exclusive to this edition, from a shop with over 50 tattoos to not one but two modding shops for customizing vehicles. As always, stay tuned for more details (and that elusive Trailer 3).

Madring could be a visual treat with all the enhancements that the PS5 Pro's upgraded PSSR has allowed Codemasters to play with.

F1 25’s 2026 Season Pack is shaping up to be quite a worthy addition to the title. We’ve already spoken at length about how it’s bringing new cars, new features, and a brand new track to the table. However, it just became an even sweeter deal thanks to the addition of Enhanced PSSR support for those racing on PS5 Pro.

Codemasters has spoken to the PlayStation Blog about what that includes, and it’s a lovely list that includes 60 FPS on Quality Mode, 120 FPS on Performance, and even 8K resolutions on compatible displays. Technical producer Si Lumb said that Sony made things “incredibly simple” to upgrade, while also detailing other attractive features like ray-traced reflections, dynamically diffused global illumination, and a noticeably sharper image when they all kick in.

Lumb was also eager to point out that Madring will be one place where all these new additions come together quite well, as it was designed from the ground up to incorporate them. We were already eager to take on a few races on the new circuit, but now that enthusiasm has turned into feverish impatience. F1 25: 2026 Season Pack is out on June 3rd, costing $24.99 on PC and $29.99 on consoles.

Variable Refresh Rate is now available on PS5 and PS5 Pro, while PC players can take advantage of Nvidia Reflex for improved response.

Among the many complaints against Arrowhead Game Studios and Helldivers 2 is performance. After promising sweeping changes for the co-op shooter, the team has confirmed that one such patch is due on May 27th, and it’s finally supporting various upscalers.

With the help of Nixxes, the PC version will soon offer AMD FSR 4.0.3 on supported GPUs alongside FSR 3.1.5, Nvidia DLSS 4.5 and Intel XeSS 3.0. On consoles, PS5 Pro players can look forward to PSSR support, while the base PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will support FSR 3.1. But that’s not all.

Available now for PlayStation players, Variable Refresh Rate will finally address screen-tearing and V-Sync stutters. Variable Rate Shading is also inbound to help with GPU load, while the base consoles and PC will be able to take advantage of Dynamic Resolution Scaling. Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X is also being bumped up to 1440p, while the former Power Saving Mode will support Quality mode.

And if that’s not enough, Nvidia Reflex (available now) and AMD Anti-Lag 2 should improve the overall responsiveness. This isn’t the end either, with Arrowhead saying it will be “closely monitoring all platforms and hardware configurations, keeping a sharp eye out for anything that needs tuning, and deploying further adjustments as required. We’re also preparing a dedicated tech-focused update later this summer to push these improvements even further.

“We’ve been following your feedback over the past few days and seeing the conversations across the Helldivers 2 community. Helldivers 2 matters to all of us, and we want to be clearer about what we’re working on and what’s coming next.”

With the Galactic War set to receive new multi-week-long campaigns with more meaningful choices, an increased player cap, new red Stratagems, and more, it may be the best time to jump back into the battle for Super Earth. Stay tuned for more updates on other changes in the meantime.

Support for the upscaler required only a day of work with "no per-scene tuning," says principal render engineer Jon Rocatis.

As we count down the days for 007 First Light’s release, IO Interactive has offered some new details for PS5 Pro players. It’s already confirmed to run at 60 FPS, which the developer touted via a refreshed version of the reveal gameplay, but you can also look forward to Upgraded PSSR support at launch.

Much like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Resident Evil Requiem, and other titles, Upgraded PSSR specifically improves temporal stability for moving objects, especially with foliage, geometry, hair, and other details. The result is fewer flickering artifacts and, in First Light’s case, objects that remain stable even as Bond quickly traverses his environment.

“Upgraded PSSR gave us a meaningful jump in image quality across the board — cleaner, more stable, and noticeably sharper on the kind of fine detail that’s hardest to get right. It’s a clear upgrade for our PS5 Pro players,” said technical director Henrik Schlichter on the PlayStation Blog. Best of all, the implementation took very little work, with IOI’s engineers integrating in a day. No per-scene tuning needed.

“We integrated upgraded PSSR in about a day and were essentially happy with what we saw straight away,” revealed principal render engineer Jon Rocatis. “No per-scene tuning, no special-case work — it just held up across the whole game. That’s not something we get to say very often about a piece of new tech.”

While the developer hasn’t shed any light on the resolution for the graphics modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, it confirmed AMD FSR 3.1.5 as the de facto upscaler. We’ll see how the results pan out when 007 First Light launches on May 27th.

It went gold last week, and since then, we’ve been treated to a trailer showcasing Greenway, who heads the 00 program, and learned more about actor Patrick Gibson’s reaction to scoring the starring role.
IO Interactive also confirms that the base PS5 and Xbox Series X include a 60 FPS Performance Mode and 30 FPS Quality Mode.

When it was revealed last year, 007 First Light’s gameplay earned plenty of “007 FPS” comments from viewers. Well, IO Interactive has come back a few weeks ahead of launch and cheekily reaffirmed that the action-adventure runs at 60 frames per second on PS5 Pro. And if you don’t believe us, there’s even some “new” gameplay attached.

“New” is somewhat inaccurate – it’s the same mission from the State of Play Deep Dive, particularly where Bond infiltrates an airport, gets spotted, and has to fight through several henchmen to catch 009’s plane. Aside from the higher frame rate and toned-down motion blur, you can’t deny all the other improvements made to animations and the HUD. License to Kill, which activates when it’s time to start blasting, now pops up at the top of the screen, which doesn’t obscure one’s view as much.

Of course, the obvious follow-up: What about base PS5 (and by extension, Xbox Series X)? IO Interactive previously confirmed Performance and Quality Modes, and has now revealed that the former runs at 60 FPS while the latter runs at 30 FPS. Nintendo Switch 2 remains a mystery, but given that it’s not out until later this Summer, there’s still plenty of time.

007 First Light launches on May 27th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Check out our feature for all the latest details.

While shipments for the current-gen console are down, Sony forecasts "double-digit rate" profits for the coming fiscal year.

Sony has announced its latest financial results for Q4 fiscal year 2026, covering the three months ending on March 31st, and, surprise, the PS5 has reached a new milestone. It’s now at 93.7 million shipments with 1.5 million shipped in the previous quarter. Impressive, but it’s down from 2.4 million year-on-year (and this is before the recent price hikes on the console line-up).

Other notable figures include 74.6 million software units sold on PS4 and PS5 combined – a 1.5 million drop from last year. Of that total, first-party titles made up 5.8 million, down by 100,00 year-on-year. The percentage of full-game software digital downloads continues to rise, hitting 85 percent. As for the PlayStation Network, it’s now at 125 million active users monthly.

Interestingly, Sony notes that its operating income forecast for fiscal year 2027, which ends March 31st, 2027, is flat year-on-year due to “the incorporation of an increase in investments for the next-generation platform.” That said, current profits are expected to see “double-digit rate” increases.

As for PS5 sales, Sony is banking on the “volume of memory” it can obtain at “reasonable prices” (which may be a tall order given the state of the memory crisis). Otherwise, it expects profitability from hardware sales to remain the same as the last fiscal year. It may not seem overtly ambitious, but with rumors about the PS6 allegedly targeting Holiday 2027, it may very well have something big in store.

Our favorite extraction shooter is getting quite the glow-up if you're tackling it on the PS5 Pro, and we're stoked to see it in action.

The Riven Tides update for ARC Raiders is bringing more than just a new map, Map Condition, and ARC threat to the table. It’s also adding Enhanced PSSR support to the game’s PS5 Pro version, and its visuals are all set to get a shot in the arm, transforming it into a visual treat on Sony’s mid-gen powerhouse.

Embark Studios’ Engine Lead, Robert Kihl, announced the upgrade in a post on the PlayStation Blog and elaborated on what it’s slated to bring to the table.

“The new PSSR delivers crisp visuals across all environments, doing a great job at preserving fine details. Visual artifacts such as flickering and shimmering are significantly reduced, resulting in a cleaner and more consistent picture, especially in complex scenes.”

We’ve always liked ARC Raiders from a graphical perspective, and these new changes are sure to make us all the more convinced it’s a title you should try out, even if extraction shooters aren’t your thing.

It isn’t just a cleaner image, though, as the new update will be a step up for the game’s geometry and significantly reduce ghosting. It looks like the PS5 Pro version is going to be the one to beat among the console editions of ARC Raiders, and the best part is that we don’t have to wait too long to try it out.

The Riven Tides update drops on April 28th. All that’s left is to gear up and wait impatiently for it to drop.
