That May 27 release date for 007 First Light is getting ever so closer, especially after it went gold. The excitement for a new chapter in modern gaming for the legendary operative is certainly palpable, and it seems like Patrick Gibson, the man behind the character, is as excited as we are.
In a recent video discussing his casting, Gibson revealed that he was “pretty stunned” to learn he received the part, having been a fan of Bond after engaging with the films and books.
“I was pretty stunned. Yeah, it was a massive shock, and I mean, just like an honor to even be auditioning for it. I was very excited. Yeah, I think it was like one of the most exciting phone calls I’ve ever had.”
His love for the character seems to show in what we’ve seen of his performance so far, and his take on Bond definitely has the looks and charm that have served him so well over the years. Of course, IO Interactive is giving Bond a deadly set of skills to let him stay in control of the situation when his personality (and bluffs) don’t do the trick.
Gibson even weighed in on his version of Bond being a younger, more arrogant take on the suave spy, which is especially relevant given the minor controversy around that aspect of the character. We’re open to that as long as it’s handled well, which is looking increasingly likely.
