Grand Theft Auto 6 Has “Near-Instant” Load Times on PS5, as Sony Outlines DualSense Support

From adaptive triggers with dynamic resistance to integrated speaker support, PS5 is seemingly the place to play Rockstar's next.

Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders officially go live at midnight local time on June 25th. Heck, depending on your region, they could be live now (see: New Zealand). But while there’s already plenty of information to dig through, leave it to PlayStation to reveal how its console is the best place to play the eagerly awaited open-world title while touting the “close partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Rockstar Games.”

Grand Theft Auto 6 will support the DualSense’s suite of features. Haptic feedback for “responsive vibrations,” adaptive triggers with dynamic resistance, the integrated speaker providing “another dimension to key moments and interactions” – you know the drill. There are no examples given, though, not even for how different weapons will feel to fire, and you know that has to be intentional.

Tempest 3D AudioTech is also supported, and the PS5’s SSD will ensure “near-instant load times,” which enables players to “experience the expansive world of Leonida” in all its glory. Not that you shouldn’t expect this on Xbox Series X/S, but the devil is in the details. Loading from one area to the next won’t take any time at all, essentially.

Will that apply when entering the game from the dashboard? Time will tell, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Sony unveiled even more benefits for playing on PS5.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 for $80. Pre-loading begins on November 12th, and Rockstar has found a way to combat potential leaks from physical copies – namely, not having a disc in the box.
