When it was revealed last year, 007 First Light’s gameplay earned plenty of “007 FPS” comments from viewers. Well, IO Interactive has come back a few weeks ahead of launch and cheekily reaffirmed that the action-adventure runs at 60 frames per second on PS5 Pro. And if you don’t believe us, there’s even some “new” gameplay attached.
“New” is somewhat inaccurate – it’s the same mission from the State of Play Deep Dive, particularly where Bond infiltrates an airport, gets spotted, and has to fight through several henchmen to catch 009’s plane. Aside from the higher frame rate and toned-down motion blur, you can’t deny all the other improvements made to animations and the HUD. License to Kill, which activates when it’s time to start blasting, now pops up at the top of the screen, which doesn’t obscure one’s view as much.
Of course, the obvious follow-up: What about base PS5 (and by extension, Xbox Series X)? IO Interactive previously confirmed Performance and Quality Modes, and has now revealed that the former runs at 60 FPS while the latter runs at 30 FPS. Nintendo Switch 2 remains a mystery, but given that it’s not out until later this Summer, there’s still plenty of time.
007 First Light launches on May 27th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Check out our feature for all the latest details.
