PS4-exclusive titles include LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Worlds, Rogue Lords and Tales of Zestiria. Need for Speed Unbound and The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition round out the PS5-exclusive titles.

As for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, they gain access to two PS4/PS5 titles – Jet Moto 2 for the PS One and Resistance: Retribution from the PSP era – and two PS4 titles – Tales of Symphonia Remastered and Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition. All PS4 titles should be playable on PS5 with backwards compatibility, further increasing the number of offerings.

The developer took to Twitter, confirming (translation via DeepL) an “event that may cause gameplay issues with this product version, currently on sale. We are currently investigating the issue intending to correct it.” Future updates will be announced for correcting the same “as soon as they are known.” It asked fans to wait for more details and apologized for any inconvenience.

Based on the 2003 classic on the Nintendo GameCube, Tales of Symphonia Remastered features quality-of-life improvements like skipping cutscenes, a revamped save screen and improved Elemental Cargo ship controls. While it includes the additional costumes, Compound Unison Attacks and Mystic Artes from Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, its follow-up/spin-off Dawn of the New World isn’t included. WILD HEARTS launched last week as well, though it has seen a fairly tepid debut in Japan, especially considering the fact that it has been positioned as a competitor to Monster Hunter, a series that typically performs very well in the region. It takes the No. 2 spot in the software charts with over 26,000 units sold.

Meanwhile, Tales of Symphonia Remastered also debuts in the top 10, with its Nintendo Switch (No. 4) and PS4 (No. 8) versions selling over 21,000 units and over 7,000 units respectively. Collectively, both versions sold over 29,000 units, which would put it above WILD HEARTS in the charts. Square Enix’s new release, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, debuts in sixth place with over 11,000 units sold.

On the hardware front, the PS5 is continuing to enjoy impressive sales in Japan, topping proceedings for the fourth week running with over 88,000 units sold. It’s followed by the Switch as a distant second, with the Nintendo platform selling over 48,000 units.

Based on the PS3 and PC re-release of the original Tales of Symphonia, the remastered version will bring visual and technical improvements and quality-of-life and UI upgrades, with the latter including features such as being able to skip events and cutscenes, among other things. That said, those expecting the remastered version to run at 60 FPS like the original GameCube release did will be disappointed – Bandai Namco has previously confirmed that it runs at 30 FPS.

Tales of Symphonia Remastered is set to launch on February 17 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Bandai Namco has said that it’s open to remastering more Tales games – read more on that through here.

The Japanese publisher recently published an official FAQ on its website for the upcoming Tales of Symphonia Remastered, and among several topics, touched on the possibility of more future remakes or remasters of Tales title. Though the company obviously didn’t give a definitive answer, it did say it’s awaiting “suggestions and requests” from fans where future remasters are concerned.

“We hear from a lot of passionate fans of the series around the world that they want to play old Tales games on the latest platforms,” the company wrote (translated by Nintendo Everything). “We as a team thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts. We are currently focused on the release of Tales of Symphonia Remastered, but we await your suggestions and requests in the future.”

Of course, things aren’t quite that simple, as saving Sylvarant could learn to terrible consequences for Tethe’alla, a parallel world. Originally launched in 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube, Tales of Symphonia has received praise for its plotline, the cast of characters, and overall gameplay. The remaster offers improved visuals, along with four-player co-op support and gorgeous cutscenes.

Unfortunately, those expecting 60 FPS gameplay will be disappointed. Despite the original having the same frame rate, Tales of Symphonia Remastered runs at 30 FPS on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. It’s out on February 17th, 2023, so stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming months.

In terms of improvements, the remaster offers better visuals (unfortunately locked to 30 FPS) and “improved” gameplay. Local co-op is also supported, allowing up to four players to partake in combat. It remains to be seen if Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, which features additional content, will be included.

In addition to the Standard Edition, there’s a $50 Chosen Edition. It includes a metal case, art prints, and character stickers in addition to the game. Pre-orders are currently available across all platforms. Stay tuned for more details on the remaster and new gameplay in the coming months.

Other details of the game on the website include comparisons of the Nintendo Switch version—which will apparently run at 720p—with its PS3 release, and general gameplay features.

Pre-ordering the physical edition, dubbed the Chosen Edition, also comes with a number of goodies alongside the full game: a metal case inspired by fox-like summon spirit Corrine, a set of character stickers, and 3 art prints. Tales of Symphonia Remastered Chosen Edition is priced at €49.99 across all platforms.
