As has been the trend for several months running, the November lineup for PlayStation Plus seem to have leaked once more.

PlayStation Plus’ monthly lineup of free games usually leaks ahead of its official reveal, and it seems that’s happened once more for the games that will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers for free next month. The leak comes from Dealabs, who also accurately leaked the October and September lineups for the subscription service.

According to the leak, November’s lineup of PS Plus games will include Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, Knockout City, and First Class Trouble. Where The Walking Dead is concerned, the VR title will, of course, be available exclusively for PSVR.

Sony did recently reveal that November’s PS Plus games would also include two additional PSVR titles in celebration of the virtual reality hardware’s fifth anniversary. Though the leak doesn’t mention what those two games are, it does say that they’ll likely be revealed in the State of Play presentation scheduled for later today.

We’ll keep an eye out for any new updates until then, so stay tuned.

Developed by Skydance Interactive, the critically acclaimed VR title is available on PC VR headsets, Oculus Quest, and PlayStation VR.

Skydance Interactive’s The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners has earned $50 million since release, as per Skybound Entertainment (via UploadVR). It launched in January 2020 and is available for VR headsets on PC, Oculus Quest and PlayStation VR. Based on Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead, it sees players venturing through the zombie-infested New Orleans and dealing with various factions.

Along with guns, players can employ melee weapons and bow against the undead. A crafting system is also in place along with scavenging for supplies. There are two major factions – The Tower and The Reclaimed – that the player must engage with along with random events that require either giving supplies to a survivor or fighting them off.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners has received new content post-launch, the most recent being Aftershocks. This adds new missions set after the base game’s story. Even more new content will be added in the future so stay tuned for details in the coming months.

The future isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially when it's in shambles like these games. Nevertheless, they make for a very fun time.

The end of the world is oftentimes a very real, very frightening scenario. But there’s just something to games that look beyond that, envisioning a post-apocalyptic setting where humanity continues, for better or worse. Let’s take a look at 15 more of the best post-apocalyptic games this generation and what makes them worth experiencing.

Gears 5

Compared to Gears of War 4, which simultaneously felt like a throwback and a new beginning, Gears 5 is a big step forward. The world is collapsing under the scourge of the Swarm and Cait must ultimately confront the COG’s secrets and overcome her past. This journey takes her from gorgeous snow-covered landscapes to the sandstorm-ridden Vasgar desert with new enemies, side objectives and more as the series’ signature cover-based gameplay still proves immensely entertaining.

Next free update The Trial is out on February 4th.

Releasing last year for Oculus Rift on PC to critical acclaim, Skydance Interactive’s The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners has done very well for itself. Revenue crossed $29 million in its first year with sales on the Oculus Quest being 10 times higher than Oculus Rift and Rift S, according to the developer. The VR title is also available for PlayStation VR on PS4.

A new free update will be coming to the Oculus Quest version on February 4th. The Trial sees players taking on waves of zombies in a venerable horde mode for high scores. The update was slated to release last week but faced a slight delay.

Based on the comic book series, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners offers a completely new storyline with players fighting for survival in New Orleans. Along with exploring the world and fighting off the undead, one can also interact with human survivors, either helping or killing them for their own ends. For more details, check out 20 minutes of gameplay here.

Earlier in the year, we got a new kind of perspective in the popular Walking Dead franchise with the VR-focused The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners. The game launched a few months ago to some pretty strong acclaim and really put you in the grim realities of this downtrodden world. But it’s not quite over, as it looks like the game is primed to have updates going forward.

As announced via IGN, a new and free update has launched for the game called The Meatgrinder. It will feature a brand now mode called The Trial, a horde mode where you start with a screwdriver and one weapon of your choice and must go through multiple waves of enemies getting more weapons and points as you continue. The Trial apparently does have an endpoint, but it’s quite difficult to do so. Along with this also comes a new difficulty in the campaign, Story Mode, as well as a new weapon with a katana.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC, and is a VR-only title. The Meatgrinder update is available now for free across both platforms. You can also check out our interview with the game’s Creative Director through here.

The year has showcased some incredible visual styles all around.

With the Xbox Series X and PS5 releasing this holiday season, it’s crazy to see the graphical excellence made possible on current gen hardware. We’re only six months into 2020 with several big names like Cyberpunk 2077 and Ghost of Tsushima still to come. But here are 15 games with the best graphics of the year thus far.

Dreams

It’s hard to measure the level of fidelity in Media Molecule’s Dreams. The main story mode, Art’s Dream, is stunning with its painting-esque backgrounds, ethereal textures and stellar particle effects. However, the creation tool-set is where things truly become crazy. Players have been creating everything from first person hack and slash titles with realistic graphics to mind-blowing sculptures of a full English breakfast. It’s a lot to take in and this is only just the beginning.

Earlier in the year, we got our first look at the newest game adaptation of the popular zombie series, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners. The game took us on a new adventure as the Telltale versions had wrapped up last year, and was generally meet with praise. The game was only on PC with its initial launch, but now it has seemingly landed on consoles in a shadow drop.

The game has shown up as purchasable on the Australian PSN store, which you can see through here, and will presumably be rolling out to other regions throughout the day. There is both a Standard Edition as well as a Tourist Edition, which has three sets of unique weapons and some voodoo doll collectibles. As of writing this no official announcement has been made. If you haven’t seen any of the game, yet, you can get a look at 20 minutes of gameplay through here.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is available now on PC, as well as now seemingly PS4 via PS VR. The game is a VR-only title, and you will need a headset to play it. You can also check out our interview with the Creative Director through here.

Virtual reality continues to thrive and these games should be kept on your radar.

Virtual reality games have always been thought to be little more than novelties but the platform has evolved at a rapid pace since then. The possibilities are endless, as seen with experiences like Half-Life: Alyx on the horizon for PC. PlayStation VR players needn’t worry though – there are a number of great VR titles out this year and beyond. Let’s take a look at some of them here.

Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash!

Available now worldwide, Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! sees the return of space reporter/dance fighter Ulala. In an interesting twist, players take on the role of a junior reporter, dancing alongside Ulala. You can dance through Story Mode, partake in Arcade mode or try to complete 100 dances in a row through Trial Dance. Even if it’s essentially a fitness game, Ulala’s return has been long overdue.

Creative director Adam Grantham speaks with GamingBolt about the VR hit.

Over the years, multiple developers have taken The Walking Dead license and used it to make all sorts of games, from choice-driven adventure titles to first person shooters to co-op focused games, but with The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, Skydance Interactive have done something very unique and very ambitious. Here’s a full-featured VR title with a reactive story, physics-based combat, and a fully explorable world, and as the game’s reviews may have indicated over the last couple of weeks, it works very, very well. Recently, before the game’s release, we sent across some of our questions about it to the developers, hoping to learn more about what makes the VR game tick. You can read our conversation with creative director Adam Grantham below.

NOTE: This interview was conducted prior to the game’s launch.

"It’s not hard to see how VR’s sense of presence makes for a perfect marriage with the horror genre, and when you mix in the motion controllers to give that hands-on experience of visceral violence, The Walking Dead is clearly a perfect fit."

Why did you decide to develop this as a VR-only title?

We’ve been in the VR space for several years now, and at Skydance Interactive we’ve always been excited to push ourselves to invent new experiences, which VR is perfect for. It’s not hard to see how VR’s sense of presence makes for a perfect marriage with the horror genre, and when you mix in the motion controllers to give that hands-on experience of visceral violence, The Walking Dead is clearly a perfect fit.

We were also very excited to bring a fully-realized robust game to VR and saw this as a perfect way to do it, something that moved beyond moment-to-moment mechanics and gave people a meaty, lengthy experience to sink their teeth into. And specifically for TWD, we wanted to push the emotional side of VR presence and experience dramatic human moments of decision that the franchise is known for.

Is it possible that you might consider a release for the game on non-VR platforms, or is virtual reality integral to the experience?

VR is definitely integral to the moment-to-moment physical experience. As soon as you play you immediately understand that. But the game as a whole offers a lot beyond the physical action. Assuming a reinvention of controls and moment-to-moment action for flat screen, a non-VR version could theoretically be possible. We’ve made no announcements about what’s next. But nothing is off the table.

How much of an impact on the story do the choice and consequence mechanics have?

There’s an overarching story with some significant choices that can make the ending play out differently. There are even some tough calls up until the very last minutes. Along the way you encounter many small stories with their own individual choices, and within those small stories you can have a big impact and cause them to play out very differently.

Another key element, especially in those smaller stories, is that the game mechanics are always at play. It’s not just quest-branching that leads to varied outcomes. It’s anything that can happen in gameplay. Did you lead walkers over to the quest giver and get the conversation interrupted and the quest giver eaten alive? Did you accidentally forget to brain him after, allowing him to come back and attack another quest giver minutes later? The gameplay never goes on pause for the story. Instead, it can interact with the story and cause things to play out in surprising and exciting ways.

"Exploration is highly encouraged, even essential to a certain extent. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners has 8 open sandbox regions, plus a home base which unlocks larger areas as the story progresses."

How much of an emphasis does the game place on stealth as opposed to combat?

For the most part our stealth isn’t about avoiding combat. It’s technically possible, and if you’re extremely skilled you can sometimes pull it off. But more often than not stealth is really about getting the drop on enemies. It’s a tool in your combat arsenal. You can use it with humans and walkers. Especially if you cover yourself with guts and blend in with the walkers.

How much is exploration encouraged in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners? Can players expect to visit some large explorable locations?

Exploration is highly encouraged, even essential to a certain extent. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners has 8 open sandbox regions, plus a home base which unlocks larger areas as the story progresses. All of the regions have hidden content for you to discover, including locked safes and their codes, gated areas, keys, and rare crafting recipes that can only be found through exploration. You’ll also need to explore just to keep up on the basic crafting and survival game. You’ll find yourself desperately scavenging for food, medicine, bandages, and crafting supplies, just to survive another day.

What impact do the physics-based systems of the game have on combat?

Physics are a cornerstone of combat. Melee requires realistic motion and force. You can’t get away with just slashing around erratically. It takes deliberate motion with a strong follow through to brain a walker. After a successful braining your weapons become stuck and you have to use real force to free them from the bone and brain you just sunk them into. Guns have recoil and can be steadied by using both hands. Each weapon has its own realistic weight properties and you can especially feel the differences between one- and two-handed weapons. When you play you feel like you’re truly engaged in real physical combat.

How long will an average playthrough of The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners be?

We believe an average playthrough will take at least 15 hours, likely more for most players. And if you want to explore all the game has to offer, all the progression tree unlocks, hidden recipes, and side content, it will take even longer.

Can players expect to see any familiar faces or locations from The Walking Dead universe?

Being set in New Orleans has allowed us to make The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners its own unique space within the larger TWD universe. We have new characters, locales, factions, and conflicts. We believe this to be a strong positive for hardcore fans seeking the core themes they know and love, but with a new twist. Having said that, there are some easter eggs from the larger universe that only fans will appreciate, and we’re excited to see the community find them all.

"The team has put a lot of care into crafting this experience in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners for players, and we believe it’s unlike anything they’ve experienced before. For The Walking Dead fans, it’s a way to live in that universe for the first time."

Is there anything else you want to tell us about the game?

The team has put a lot of care into crafting this experience in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners for players, and we believe it’s unlike anything they’ve experienced before. For The Walking Dead fans, it’s a way to live in that universe for the first time. You can experience the tension and violent intensity up close and personal, feeling the weight of it all, both physically and emotionally. You can be who you want to be, make the calls you’d make, and deal with all the consequences, for better or worse.

It’s a new world, with a new story and characters, but all true to the franchise’s core themes. For VR fans it’s going to be one of the most advanced tactile VR experiences they’ve ever had, and one of the most fully realized VR games to date. For people who have been sitting on the sidelines of VR, it’s a great reason to jump in. We believe we brought a full game to the VR platforms in a way that few have done. For hardcore gamers wanting the promise of VR interactivity, but demanding a real deep game, your time has finally come. Now is a great time to jump into VR and see for yourself.
